Two of my favorite Staley media moments today:

"We competed." I love his description of the draft as a competition. Charger mind/judgment versus the rest of the league. That's how it should be and that's what one does when unafraid of accountability.

"Tired?" When asked if he was tired, he brushes it off like limp lint..."We're preparing for Monday." He then went on to say he was expecting that same energy and commitment from others.

This is the first season he's gotten back into it, started last season as it seems Herbert is capable of transcending the SD/LA BS. He's been in my ear texting me last few days during the draft.

It's given my pops and I something fun and good to talk about.
        Underrated post.

I am great proponent of coach Staley
Can hear all that talk about connections to player etc...
I do not want to go to far in speculation but it seems like coaching staff took over this draft and not necessary listen to TT and his scouting department.

example (somone on draft topic said that Palmer might be noticed while watching DB tape - seems true)

Palmer 1:02 "I said I want this guy on our team"
          Etc
          Etc
          Etc.

Staley is not Lynn yes man shit.

"I am so excited i can't hide it"
Telesco said that the evaluations were put together before the coaching staff was assembled,
and the various coaches only confirmed matters,

He said the rb in the 6th was the scout's choice.

Could be. But I frame it a different way. TT on to the next task--the next pick. I believe they will work well together.

TT just sees this new HC who is smarter albeit less experienced than him IMV. TT is up for the challenge, to make LAC better and better.

I don't think Staley is the type of personality that 'commands' attention.
If he morphs into that kind of personality, then he's Belichick like in his success,
              or he's headed downward.

A good leader doesn't have to be all things. A good leader will surround himself/herself with people who compliment his skill set. He's the soft-spoken beautiful mind sort...I'm guessing there are others who can be the hard-nosed get-in-your-face type. There are plenty of situations where a leaders has a #2 who acts as the pitbull to/bad guy. I've seen it be successful multiple times.

High football IQ and a football junkie

He was talking about DB play and he said Jalen and Derwin got it from Jeremy Pruitt who it got it from Saban and Belichick and still used by Kirby Smart. This was a month or so ago but he rattled off five names

When talking about the Tampa Bay OL - he rattled off - all the names

I forget the quote from this week end - but again, rattled off a bunch of details that McCoy or Lynn never brought to the table. He is a football junkie and lets hope it translates to coaching on the practice field and how he manages the game. The leadership stuff - Lynn had that. The respect of the players - Lynn had that. Lynn is a good man - thats obvious. But is the team prepared in practice and do they bring that to the game day and does the coach understand strategy. Thats it for me

Staley is bringing just about as much excitement to the Chargers as Herbert is. Listening to him talk about each individual prospect and specific ideas for their usage all the way down to the 7th round was great. With Lynn and McCoy it always seemed a boilerplate “we’ll get them in here and have them compete and see what happens”. Honestly I’m wishing we were on Hard Knocks this year just so I can see Staley with this team in TC.

Huh? Go read what Jalen Ramsey and the rest of the D said about Staley. Go see what they said about him in Chicago. Weak sauce post.
