PFF is trash reference material. Alone they mean nothing.
He is depth not a projected starter with starting experience.

I agree with respect to PFF's exact numbers, but they are generally in the same zip code when it comes to the quality of the player involved. They had Square about 13 points better, which I think suggests that Square is the better overall player.

Now, I can easily see Covington being better versus the run or at collapsing the pocket, which may be a greater need for our team, but not a better DL player overall.

Overall, though, the point I was making was that Covington is a back end of the roster reserve player and nothing to get too excited about.

He is not a bad signing, just nothing special.

It just seemed like since it wasn't addressed in the draft - they would need to address in free agency. Again, I didn't recognize the name but I also thought a player like Sheldon Richardson wasn't going to make sense either.

Limited ceiling for sure, but I think more likely a depth piece that sticks around for a year. I am familiar w/guy as longtime Cowboy fan. He was w/Dallas two years ago, started 6 games. He never splashed.

He bounces around for a reason, he's stayed in league for a reason. One of those marginal players you find on most every team.
