That's somebody else's problem. We aren't going to draft him. These rumors are really just ridiculous.

Agree Rivers is a Charger for at least the next 2 seasons. And we have better chances to win the Super Bowl with him than any rookie QB IMO...

The Chicago Bears are eyeing a trade with Tennessee involving the No. 2 pick so they can draft Marcus Mariota and dump Jay Cutler on the Titans.

        This is more like it.
        Go Rivers!

these rivers trade responses are a great way to judge people, specifically their idiocy.

Because being $18M under the cap is not enough, dumping Rivers contract will help us pick up and undrafted backup nickleback from yangston state junior college.

So dump an All Pro NFL QB for a gamble rookie who has no experience playing in an NFL offense, and a 2nd round pick. Great Value LOL. :wtf:

People seem to be acting like paying $15 mill (or whatever it is exactly) for Rivers is some huge chunk of change. The franchise value for QB is in the mid $20 mill per year and going up all the time. What we are paying Rivers is pretty cheap. The thing that is somewhat ironic is that Manning and Brady, still arguably two of the better QB around, both have made fairly serious efforts to keep their salaries down. It is only guys like Flacco and Brees who have let their salaries get out of control. It is also worth noting that both Baltimore and NO had to get rid of players who they would really have liked to keep this offseason.

                      From Acee's UT Q&A yesterday:

Q: Hey Honestly havent the chargers told Phillip Rivers they are going to franchise tag him? I mean come one LA is like 2 hours up the 5 N. He really wants to restart his career. No I am not going through a tailspin just because his southern roots don't extend to LA. I mean his visiblity would increase. We are franchising him. For him to have the gall after all this team and city have done for him its ridiculous. Your thoughts?

A: You don't seem to know much about Philip Rivers. He could care less about visibility ... I won't rule out him playing in LA, but I'd say there is very little chance. Hey, the Chargers could stay in San Diego, and he could re-sign.
If Acee is right about their being very little chance that Rivers would move to LA with the team, that really kind of puts us in a box if we are moving there next season. Do we play the year out with him and get a new QB next year? Or try and get Mariotta this year, which very likely sacrifices any hope of a playoff run this year.

Rivers would have to retire. Is he really ready to retire? What's the difference between LA and anywhere else if he's firmly established in San Diego?

IMO, there is a microscopic chance they move to LA next year so there's no way they get rid of Rivers. I think he plays out his contract this year and they franchise tag him next year. By the end of next year, we should know if the stadium vote passes or not.
