Tommy T has not come out and said he will not trade Rivers. And Rivers has not said he wouldn't like to be traded. Either side could kill the rumors from day 1 and they haven't.

In Adam Shiens article he said one GM called Telesco about Rivers and Telesco said he wasnt available....nd he spoke to a couple othrs who said this wont happen. Maybe there is a reason they arent killing it other than they want to trade him. They dont have to kill it til after the draft. Kepp em guessing and they are doing a fine job of it.

Oh and in that article OIP posted, i dont agree that Rivers is somewhere between ****ler and Bledsoe. He is right now much better than both at that stage and is still a lot better than ****ler. I believe Bledsoe lost his job to Brady at the tiime so Rivers is worth more than that 2150 points. That draft chart can go out the window.

Trade the rest of the picks for Hundley and we're ready to go to Carson.
That would be a terrible trade for Cleveland.

But if they are not going to trade him - and they have already made that decision - then it doesn't make any difference if they squash the rumor or not. Let it ride...let the rumors fly...puts a big curtain over the Chargers REAL intent (if you accept my premise as truth). Can anyone say with confidence which way the Chargers are going to go with any of their draft choices? Even the guys here are all over the map, with the possible exception of the 'Gorgon'/Gurley angle.

If not for the Rivers 'trade' and LA...this would be a pretty boring off-season for the entire League; not just the Chargers. I think TT is going to have a big chuckle over this on...starting immediately after he makes his pick @17.

I like this trade and thinks its plausible. I even mentioned the Bradford angle here a few days ago Let's face it, this team has been stuck in the 7-9 win zone for years and Rivers has been our starter 9 years now with no Super Bowl while Brees, Sheli, Rothlessberger all have Super Bowl wins. Closest we've come is a spanking in NE when LT was down and Rivers couldn't make up for it and a couple 1 and dones with home field advantage that came down to our kicker deciding the game. I love Rivers for his fire and attitude on and off the field, but I just don't see him willing this team over the top like maybe a Brady or Manning could.

Reality #1 Rivers could indeed retire after this year and leave us with nothing.
Reality #2 Rivers is not as accomplished as his draft class top QBs who won Super Bowls- he's not worth the same $100 Mil contract Ben got.
Reality #3 The team gushed about Clemons last year, and he worked well in support of Bradford in St Louis- what's not to like about those 2 + a talented developmental guy behind them- especially if we find a real running game?

I don't see Mariota or Winston as an upgrade or THE ANSWER, but I also think we're in for continued mediocrity but at a much higher price after this year if we keep Rivers long term. I could be wrong, but that's the cards I'm reading...

Sam Bradford? Oy fucking Vey! Isn't he still on his huge rookie contract as well? He was in the draft class that wasnt on a rookie scale.
I want no part of Bradford.

Jesus you guys chastised Mathews for being hurt all the time and Bradford has been much worse playing a more important position. Hell even Ingram has been hurt more than Mathews. Ingram and English have played in the same total of games (29) in their first three seasons. Where's the outrage?

I big fuck no to Bradford!

Did you even READ the post before going off with the Bradford rant? You're acting like he is the centerpiece of straight Rivers for Bradford swap- rather than the throw in he actually would represent. We'd be getting an extra 1st rounder and 2nd rounder, can draft another QB this year or next and no chance Rivers retires on our watch leaving us with no compenation at all. If Bradford is healthy he plays, with Clemons backing him up- which happens to be the same scenario the Chargers are happy with now with Rivers starting and Clemons backing him up. Did you read the Chargers have some concern the Rivers back problems could be a lingering issue? Some people want to Franchise or give Rivers a Big Ben market rate contract that cost more than Bradford would. Try doing a cost/benefit analysis on that proposed deal and its pretty clear we come out ahead moving Rivers....
