Sounds like LT is using his situation compared to Rivers.....It's apples n oranges with QB's and a RB, So LT is letting his emotions make this claim.

Does LT think Rivers thought we could of won a ring in some of those bad seasons we had ? LoL...That's the dumbest thing I've heard come out of his mouth "With all Due respect" Some how LT is making it sound like we're the Niners or Saints and trading away and or losing everyone....I think this off season has been pretty productive so far. It just seems like a few of our Vets are realizing that they only have a handfull of years left, Atleast to perform at an all pro level

Fact of the matter is...if this situation EVEN HAS TO GET to the point of having to franchise him....we've lost. QB-organization relationship is irreversibly damaged, cap space is hurt, and a toxic environment has been created. I'm not sure how anybody here could advocate for that. "Oh but we get to keep Rivers for two more years." So fucking what. Let's get our heads out of the hand and look at the forest beyond the trees.

And before anybody takes this comment of mine as an endorsement of trading Rivers, or going after Mariota, etc, please don't. All I'm trying to say is that any scenario other than a mutually agreed upon long-term extension is going to end badly for us. And said scenario is looking less and less likely with each passing day.

To be fair, LT does say some weird things, like implying that the roster turnover the past few years has upset Rivers. I mean this is the salary cap era, of course there's going to be a lot of turnover all the time. He also makes it seem like losing Royal was a deathblow...I don't know, maybe Rivers had more of a connection with Royal than he let on (he WAS pretty clutch) and doesn't feel like Johnson will be an adequate replacement.

All that being said, I agree that his comments shouldn't be dismissed as sour grapes as he has more knowledge of the inner workings of that organization AND Rivers' head than all of us combined on this board.
