Kind of never do imo. Thats why im past that. Im at the point where im just paying for guys who can do these things. OT as well. We just dont develop these positions that well. And they hurt us year after year.

Im only saying this because i feel every year fans are pretty good about knowing needs and expecting less than stellar production from the same position groups year over year. Might be the most informed fan base in the league just based on the fact that every season we expect the same crap from the same position groups. And it happens. Probably not a good thing imo. I would kill to interview Telesco myself. Im beyond "we have to do better"

Its just crazy to me that every season.....returner....kicking.....IDL....Run game etc....Telsco and the coaches go with mediocrity. I wish a reporter who covers the bolts would ask Telesco why they are ok with a bad kicker....a lack of return game....suspect run game after Ekeler....and Storm/Pipkins liability issues? As well as the lack of run stopping. Year after year. Why do we not seem to care about these things? Why are we ok with mediocrity. I would ask Telesco.....maybe even Staley...."Do you even know better?" "Do you not see it hurting us?"

Its crazy to me that Charger fans often seem to know what to expect more than our team. I hate saying that.

LOL sorry im just venting here. Im not looking for a debate. Dont take me too seriously with this post. But im just so over the same broken sections of this team year over year. Im a draft guy. I feel like i could get it right? I feel like the guys i like year after year go to teams and do as expected. But i just dont have faith at this point that these festering wound needs will ever be taken seriously by Telesco. He has had so many good picks. And they obviously help. Not that i personally think its tough to make calls on players that fall in your laps. But i just wonder if sometimes its a philosophical belief that our 3rd OT....kicker....returner....DT.....etc is not viewed as important. Back up RB as well. McKitty? Over Hubbard or Stevenson? Lets stop wasting picks on positions that are usually pretty easy to draft.

I actually didnt expect to be 4-2 1/3 of the way into the season. I thought the schedule was really tough. Im beyond ecstatic to be sitting here at 4-2. And really good teams have shitty games on any given sunday. That team we saw against the Ravens is better than that. Im stunned Staley didnt take away the hashes. Jackson lives there. But for as cerebral and intelligent Staley is....players have to execute. Perfect storm of key players all playing bad on the same day. Much better days ahead.

But every year we are scratching our heads at these positions. And im losing faith we can ever get it right. This kid on the Ravens Practice squad. Jake Verity was expected to net a draft pick in return. He literally gave Tucker a run for his money in camp and pre. Ravens have a history of developing good kickers. Id look at that kid as he is unprotected. But if we do nothing at kicker....this is essentially the point im trying to make in general. Just the idea we are ok with mediocrity.
I have been pushing pretty hard for a trade for Patterson because his contract is so manageable - especially when you consider the pro-rated amount left over. That said, I will take Roberts if he is close to where he has been the last few years. Plus he won't cost a draft pick. I think the Falcons can get a 5th, maybe a 4th for Patterson - or they should try too.

The issue with Patterson is not being a PR too. I get that he has an unexpected impact on the offense but I want a returner to return both.

I have no issue with a guy that likely cuts a RB and WR off your roster. He would be our backup RB and 3rd/4th WR. Just like you see in Atlanta. Again not hindsight on my part. Expected this from him. His abilities in the open field are worth trying to exploit. Falcons figured this out. Does enough running the ball and receiving to be brought in as a monster KO returner and depth at 2 other positions. Fournette beats up front sevens. Shocked nobody else wanted him this offseason. 5M is cheap.

But again....the threat to score and have huge kick off returns....boosting momentum and moral? This is what Patterson has been doing for a while now. Every year i bring his name up.

Maybe Telesco needs to spend more time unpacking skillsets of players who would be cheap and have a history of helping and being consistent in areas of needs for teams....especially our needs.

I was vocal about getting Jakeem Grant. Dolphins ended up unloading him for a 2023 6th round pick. C’mon TT! That were you thinking??

I might be wrong but they rarely do both

Telesco comes from the Pollian tree.
Premium draft picks are used on QB, EDGE/PRS, TD SCORERS (RB & WR), OT, and DB.
Staley wants to be a LOS team.
Hopefully this marriage of philosophies breeds a blended draft strategy.

I would have gladly parted with a 2022 6th or 7th to get Grant at the beginning of the year. He’s an underrated receiving target too.

I feel the same way when the team does not seem to "see it" when I see something that seems so clear.

Did any of us think that Bulaga was going to play the whole season without injury? I would be shocked if a single one of us did. Meanwhile, WR was our deepest/best position group--could have stood pat all day and night long at that position. We could have selected Spencer Brown, the current starting RT and backup LT of the Bills at #77 and would have been so much better off than we are now.

Now, IMO, we are worse at WR than we were last year while simultaneously missing out on a significant upgrade at RT that would have forced Pipkins off of the roster, giving us very good OT depth to start the year with Norton as the #4-5 OT depending on how Feiler gets counted. One draft pick screwed us at two positions.

I liked Joe Reed too as a player that can potentially do the things that you have discussed Patterson doing, including RB/WR/KR, though Patterson has been a much better KR than Reed. To me, having a versatile player like that makes sense and creates issues for defenses to try to figure out. I still hope we can get Reed back from injury and promote him into that role from the practice squad (not sure how practice squad injured designation works, though).

And if we were going to draft a WR in round 3, I would have preferred Anthony Schwartz to give us a 4.25 guy to go with our two 4.3+ guys. Not only would I not have decreased the deep passing game as we have this year, I would have increased it by getting even more players to put pressure on defenses and stretch the field for our good underneath receivers. Deep receivers and Herbert seem like a very natural fit. It seems to work for KC pretty well too.

As frustrating as it can be in those instances where we believe that the team is not seeing it, I guess that is all part of being a more dedicated fan versus being a casual fan of the team.

Uh oh. Roberts had/has? A bum knee that kept him out of training camp and needed periodic draining. A report I read from Bleacher Report said the injury appears to have ‘robbed him of his explosiveness’ and is why his return numbers are pedestrian to poor so far this season. Hoping he is ok
