If they are going to man all game, try a screen pass once in a while. I've never seen an offense as miserable on screen passes as this one.
Its almost like they are tipping the play.

If you have receivers that can't beat man coverage, then you have to ask yourself why did you decide to become a passing based offense?

    I would guess part of the problem wasn't blanketed receivers, but Herbert not seeing the coverage New England was employing;
which means Herbert was not prepared well during the week.

You mean the Keenan drop, the Mike drop and the Austin drop/INT?

The pass pressure is throwing Herbert's rhythm off. To be expected..... and the receivers are dropping quite a few passes. Just a fact.

Patriots had 147 rushing yards but on 39 carries for a 3.76 YPC. So better there. We actually rushed for more yards with 162 on 20 carries for a 8 YPC.....believe it or not but one run by Jackson went for 75 yards.

Or Herbert is deciding not to throw the ball because he's not reading the defender's leverage so he's pulling the ball down, double clutching, and being late on delivery.

At some point the QB has to throw the WR open even if he's covered. You have to beat the man coverage, you can't just count on a blown coverage.

Horrible experience at Sofi today. Patriots flat out own us and today was no different. We scored a couple of Tds early and that was it. They shut us down completely after that. Couldn’t even get 1st downs.

offense was horrible and boring. Out of sync. KA and MW don’t seem to be able to win one on ones. Herbert had another bad day and I’m not sure it will get better. Our running game is a complete mystery. Why Rountree was in for entire series when were backed up is silly and stupid.

on defense, NE could have ran the ball down our throat all day. They did us a favor by throwing 3x when they had 1st and goal at the 4. Mac Jones was awful today and we still lost. Badly.

couldn’t even mount a threat the entire second half.

I hope they are embarrassed and ashamed

The idea that Justin Jones, another fantastic Telesco day 2 selection, was gonna solve the run issues was a fantasy. He’s been here for like 3 or 4 years now and the run defense’s been bad every year.
No one is expecting the Chargers to suddenly turn into the Joe Green Steelers with Jones out there.
Just saying there is an enormous difference between him out there and the next DT on the depth chart.
Telesco spending $880,000 on Covington tells me how little he values depth on the Dline.

Mac Jones completed 50 percent of his passes.
their (vaunted) RBs gained less than 4YPC.
Agholor 3/6, Kendrick Bourne 4/7, Jakobi Myers 4/9, HH 1/3

JH wasn't any better than Mac, and.... he threw two picks.
JJ averaged 26 YPC, Ek almost 6.
                      Keenan 6/11, Ek 6/10, Cook 2/5
                      Palmer's YPC was 26 yards

Nasir is starting to be a bit of a player back there....
Hopkins was a nice add, as I know alot of us felt a whole lot better after his XPs and FGs.

my personal suspicion is that Telesco is not the problem, and that the scouting department still needs a bit of a clean up/housekeeping.
my question is who would be a better OC ??

will still volunteer that John Spanos needs as Asst. Director of Football Ops, and that Tom could use an Asst. GM.
ED Matayo Uiagalelei, OC Iapani Laloulu, LB CJ Allen, DT Dontay Corleone, CB Domani Jackson, TE Brett Norfleet, TE Justin Joly, LB TeitumTuioti, LB Raylen Wilson, OG Earnest Greene III, LB Eric Gentry, WR J. Michael Sturdivant
TE Cade Otton, QB Gardner Minshew

This is discouraging to hear from one who was actually there.

This is not a good football team.
They do nothing well in any phase of the game on offense, defense or special teams.
Team needs more speed on offense: maybe Brandon Cook is a must?

Mac Jones is not a good qb and New England still basically dominated the game after the opening drive.

It will be hard for this team to win in Philly next week.

Telesco needs to justify why he should be kept around after 8 years of nothing.

We’ve had one blowout, and six dogfights: we’ve won four, lost two. I bet the teams we beat have said, we coulda had that game if…

That said, coaches need to focus 100% on getting Herbie right. Yeah dropsies, but something is not well with our QB, and as Herbie goes so goes our season.
