After the season - it'll be our last fix, so to speak ; - )

I will still root for individual players and be a fan of those players, most notably Gale Gilbert, Shaun Gayle and Jermaine Fazande. But, as far as being a fan of the organization and the whole team, nope, no way, not going to happen!!

It seems so silly to me that anyone would drop their fandom because of this potential move. They were the LA Chargers before they were San Diego. San Diego does not have "birth rights" to them.
I am a fan of the good vs evil (Chargers Raiders) aspect. Hadl, Alworth, "The Goast", Speedy Duncan and many, many more through the years. There is an evolution of players but it's still the good guys against the bad guys drama on Sunday no matter what city.
THOSE LA Chargers were an AFL team before the merger. San Diego does have birthrights for the NFL San Diego Chargers for 50+ years.

I don't know how I missed this post, but all I can say is you're way off base.

Agreed. I understand San Diego is a transplant city but for those of us who have been here the majority of our lives (or born here), I think we have a different outlook. Maybe his perspective is different, but I agree he is way off base.

My real point is that we would have never had the damn LA Raiders and all of their shithole fans if the Chargers had stayed. So where am I off base as an original fan?

You're off base to dismiss lifelong San Diegans regional fandom as silly. And nowhere did you bring up the Raiders in that post, but that's really not relevant (the Raiders didn't arrive until 22 years later anyway so not sure how the Chargers leaving after one season makes them responsible), but since you bring it up how do you like it that Chargers are gonna bring those "shithole fans" back to LA?

It's too late to get rid of them but my worst nightmare is the raiders returning to LA. I strongly object to being called a raider fan simply because I don't mind if the Chargers return to LA. The only hope for me is for the Chargers to share the Rams stadium.

And I have lived longer than you so I don't get to be a lifelong fan... only since I was 16.

Semantics aside, nobody said a lifelong fan is better than whatever fandom you may have. I just object to your idea that San Diegans regional fandom is silly. After 50-plus years of history surely you can understand that?

If the Chargers had been in LA 22 years later the raiders would have never been able to come. They made a business decision then and they will now. None of us are entitled to have them in our city, we can only be fans of the team or not if you so choose.

50 years of fandom for the team is NOT silly but making it only for the city is.
