Meet your new Bolts, the final roster

Chargers cut, trade way to 53-man roster
    By Michael Gehlken | 12:18 p.m. Sept. 5, 2015

The Chargers have set their initial 53-man roster of 2015.

It features four undrafted rookies: kicker Josh Lambo, inside linebacker Nick Dzubnar, wide receiver Tyrell Williams and tackle Tyreek Burwell. Kicker Nick Novak, tight end John Phillips and wide receiver Javontee Herndon were among the notable players released. Versatile offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles was traded to the Vikings for a 2016 sixth-round pick.

The team went heavy at outside linebacker and offensive linemen due to injuries.

Guard Johnnie Troutman (arm) and outside linebacker Tourek Williams (foot) will miss the start of the season.

For some bubble players who made the Chargers roster, it is too early to celebrate. All NFL teams track players waived and released elsewhere in the league. Many will tweak their initial 53-man roster over the next week before the start of the season.

More like the initial 53 roster.

Who is on the bubble? Burwell? Inman?

Any positions you want to upgrade? I'm pretty happy with the all the position groups and don't see anybody on the waiver wire that I would go after. Sure we could upgrade at backup QB, backup OG, but I'm not sure we would improve any spots.

I doubt burwell gets cut unless the incoming player is also an offensive linemen because we only have 8 bodies right now with Troutmans injury. I think Unrein would be first to go.

I don't think Troutman is yet settled either. Need those waiver lists.

Chargers have 53 players on active roster. All but 13 were added since 2013 arrival of Tom Telesco, Mike McCoy: http://utsd.us/1VFAJXQ

After week 4 who gets cut when Gates comes back

              1. If Melvin Gordon is doing what we expect to do I say cut Brown
              2. TE Kyle Miller
              3. You can never have enough corners, but Stevie Williams hasn't shown me nothing I am surprise he made the roster, he benefit from Chris Davis being out injured with the concussion.
              4. Based on the history of OL going down they probably keep everybody, but Johnnie Troutman would be my choice for bye-bye
              5. Based oh history of the LB going down probably keep everybody

Miller. No question. I wouldn't even be surprised if SD claims a better TE this weekend.

There are not many TE who can block around, and we desperately need another blocker in the bunch.

Probably someone will be hurt by the time Gates is ready to come back, so it will take care of itself.

We carried 4 last year and no FB. Miller replaces Phillips as another blocking TE with Johnson, but younger. I don't see him going anywhere, but they could add another to PS.

I know he did nothing in the preseason, but Parker would be a nice addition to develop as a practice squad player. He has the tools to be special, and the serious lack of all around TE in the NFL means we have to start trying to develop our own.

If we want to add another TE, singing Chicago's Bear Pascoe as a blocker. He is about the only blocking TE who was any good who got cut. So few colleges ask their TE to be anything but a receiver anymore, that it is becoming rare to find all around players at TE anymore.
