The Chargers open as 1.5 pt favorites in Las Vegas next week, a game that I am guessing will be moved into a prime time slot, when there is only one game being played, either on Saturday or Sunday night. The winner is in the playoffs. The loser goes home.
I watched the Raiders at the Colts, the Raiders won not because they played particularly well, but because the Colts' offense was pretty inept, especially in the passing game. The Raiders could only score 17 points on the Broncos in Las Vegas last week, and the week before that it took a minor miracle for them to barely edge out the COVID-ravaged Browns with Nick Mullens at QB. The Raiders have won three straight, by an average of the three points. Their defense is not as good as the Bronco's defense the Chargers just faced today, and I think they can be had deep, and they aren't particularly good at stopping the run.
The Chargers are undefeated in Allegiant Stadium and Herbert is 2-1 against the Raiders, winning two straight. I like the Chargers chances in this game.
I think we are the better team overall, but there are several factors that play in the Raiders' favor:
- home game with the playoffs on the line, that's huge
- John Madden sentimentality
- it's hard to sweep a division foe
- Derek Carr made some comments after the last Chargers win about how he didn't like guys like Bosa celebrating, dancing, etc, and that he couldn't wait for the next meeting. Not sure how much extra motivation you need for a game like this, but just putting it out there.
I think this is going to be a disgustingly nail-biting game LOL.
My biggest concern is Carr on third downs, he always bites us several times a game with big completions to Renfrow. Contain Carr on third downs and we will beat them. Own what you started Joey, make Carr your pet turtle. Jacobs used to be my biggest worry, but the defense has learned how to keep him in check. He may pile up some yards but he won't win the game for them. Going to be an epic win.

I've seen that too many time myself. Carr throw a high trajectory ball that catches DB's off guard, but those need time to complete. Get to him, he doesn't throw those rainbows.

Carr is a career loser especially in big games. He chokes. Chargers just need a little pressure and he will fold.

I hope not but suspect you're correct. Good points above.
