Super deep edge class. I wouldn't be shocked if we take one in r3, r4, r5.

I will say this - now that Edge is taken care of - Wagner might make more sense. Prioritiues were CB, IDL, IDL and Edge.
One of those is taken care of
Justin Jones probably is one IDL
so that leaves CB and IDL

Why not? We need QUALITY depth in our DL rotation...

Its a long season and Bosa / Mack will get hurt and miss games. In the grand scheme of things we need to accumulate as much big-bodied talent as possible in the trenches.

Similar to the trade for Mack, while UFA are historically a waste of money. The vast majority of them will do little or nothing. Big money FA are usually the worst signings, the others to a somewhat lesser degree.

However, trades and cut casualties, at least historically have had a much higher success rate. Most are somewhat past their prime, but then so are virtually every FA. We could either play wait and see and sign them off the street, or try a trade for one (or two) of our late round comp picks.

For example, every DI player on this list (except those who missed last year due to injury) has a higher PFF grade than any of our current players last year, and by a fair margin.

PFF list of potential Cap Cuts (from Feb 22, 2022)

Plus a trade or signing released players don't count against comp picks.
