Thoughts:
*Nwosu is gone now.
*Jones and White have a better chance of being re-signed.
*The next two FA targets are CB and DT. There’s a few good ones on the market. (I’m rooting for DJ Jones/Joseph-Day and Darious Williams).
*Unfortunately, I think the JC Jackson dream is over.
*Jordan Davis’ chances of landing in LA just increased.
*However, I still wouldn’t rule out edge in R1. Rumph is not the answer if Mack and/or Bosa goes down. Edges are expensive and rookie contracts are not. Mack is great but we still need to secure the future at edge.
Prediction:
*White re-signed.
*Jones re-signed.
*Darious Williams signed.
*Sebastian Joseph-Day signed.
*R1: George Karlaftis, edge
*R3: Max Mitchell, RT
*R4-R7: TE, RB, CB, LB, DL, SOur quarterback is a golden god.

TT's 2nd round picks
Asante Samuel Jr.
Kenneth Murray (kinda)
Nasir Adderley
Uchenna Nwosu
Forrest Lamp
Hunter Henry
Denzel Perryman
JAGs or JAGs+. One Pro Bowl year for Hunter. That's it. How is trading for a potential HOFer with time left on the clock not a slam dunk win?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

Bears trading pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Chargers
By Daniel Popper
March 10, 2022Updated 3:00 PM PST

The Bears are working on a trade that will send pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Chargers, The Athletic confirmed. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news.
The Bears will reportedly receive a 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 sixth-round pick from the Chargers as part of the deal.
Mack was having a strong 2021 season and picked up six sacks through seven games before a foot injury ended his year. Prior to last season, Mack played in 109 out of a possible 110 career games with the Raiders and Bears.
He's now set to return to the division in which he played the first four seasons of his career, with the then-Oakland Raiders. This is the second time Mack has been traded. The Bears sent the Raiders two first-round picks, a third-round and sixth-round selections to acquire Mack in 2018.
In August, Mack, who has 76.5 career sacks and 23 career forced fumbles, spoke highly of his new head coach Brandon Staley.
"When he locked me in on football it was like it was all ball," Mack said. "I could kind of tell he had that head coach persona and it didn't surprise me at all that he went on to get a D-coordinator position and then now a head coaching job. I know he's going to do very well because of the type of person it occurs to me he is and the type of coach he is as well."

What does he bring to the Chargers?
Daniel Popper, Chargers beat writer: Mack will provide an elite pass-rushing skillset opposite Joey Bosa at edge rusher — something the Chargers were missing last year. Uchenna Nwosu was the starter alongside Bosa in 2021, and while he found a rhythm as the year progressed and played his best football down the stretch, Mack is just on a different level. Nwosu is a pending unrestricted free agent. The Chargers had a disappointing defense in Brandon Staley's first season as head coach. They finished 26th in defensive DVOA, Football Outsiders' efficiency metric. One of the issues was not producing enough pressure. The Chargers ranked 19th in pressure rate, according to TruMedia. They also struggled to stop the run. Mack will impact both of those weaknesses directly. And his presence alone will also open up more one-on-one opportunities for Bosa.
Is Los Angeles a championship contender now?
Popper: Unless he is a franchise quarterback, one player does not elevate a team to championship contender — even a player as accomplished as Mack. But the Chargers are certainly closer to that level now than they were a day ago. They still have a lot of work to do with their defensive personnel. They need to add multiple interior defensive linemen to beef up their run defense. They need another cornerback — either a slot defender or outside corner. The Chargers are not done. Still, they needed a massive injection of talent on that side of the ball, and they found that in Mack. If they can fill their other roster roles, the Chargers will be poised for a championship run.
Why would the Bears move him?
Kevin Fishbain, Bears beat writer: Ryan Poles inherited an aging roster and only five draft picks in 2022. This is a move looking toward the future, and it puts the Bears in the "rebuilding" category, which is fair considering the state of their roster. As effective as Mack is when he's healthy, it's going to take some time for the Bears to get to where they need to be. If they can get draft picks and get Mack's contract off the books, that helps in the long run.
How will the Mack trade be remembered in Bears history?
Fishbain: Mack lifted the team to great heights in '18 with his incredible play, but he was never able to come close to replicating that. Injuries were an issue in 2020 and 2021. When healthy, Mack still had the potential as a game wrecker, but he couldn't be counted on week-in and week-out. Ultimately, four years with the highest-paid player in team history amounted to zero playoff wins. That's not all on Mack, to be sure, but his time in Chicago will be viewed by some through that lens.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

This is one of those moves that *might* be a game-changer, but... It essentially requires that Mack produce on a Pro- Bowl level for the entire three years that the Bolts now have him under contract.Originally posted by Parcells View PostI’m good with Uchenna moving on. I never saw him as a guy worth $10 million a year, and that sounds like the floor of what he is asking for. The Texans have a weak O-line, and without Bosa we had zero pass rush. I was at that game and it was pathetic. We went out and got an alpha, and we already have an alpha with Bosa. Mack is also a stout run defender too.
As a Charger Fan since the 60's, I *know* that you can't count un-hatched chickens. Dewey Selmon, Delton Hall, Bruce Laird, James Jones, Tre Turner, Bryan Bulaga and Jacoby Jones were all supposed to strengthen big vulnerabilities... but failed to do so. The Bolts' history is littered with far more examples of flop acquisitions than bullseyes-- There's been only ONE Keenan McCardell or Brandon Manumaleuna for every FIVE-plus flops.
So I'll contain my excitement for the time being.... while acknowledging the capacity for this acquisition to become a huge deal.
I'll be over here, waiting for the eggs to hatch.

Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:
- 69-74 record
- 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
- Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
- 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
- 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
- Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
- Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

Well, not so fast. I think this is a great signing...IF Mack returns to his pre-2021 form. And the fact that he's 31. I guess that concerns me, as well. I also hate giving up 1st- or 2nd-round draft picks, even for a guy who has had such a checkered drafting history beyond the 1st round.Originally posted by Formula 21 View PostWOW.
Good job TT.
LA Chargers - 2022 AFCW CHAMPIONS
My biggest hope is that he's not done in Free Agency; no time to put the brakes on now. I think Jackson from the Patriots should still be a priority; and we need a backup RB. More depth on the OL; more speed at WR; and ESPECIALLY some sort of impact player on the IDL (but not Hicks). A safety valve TE would be nice, too. Now, not all of that has to be done in FA. But I'm no Draftnik, so I don't know who might be a great pick at #17 - although I've heard that big DT from Georgia (forget his name) has been mentioned a time or two on some mocks.
I think the Mack signing almost certainly signals the end of Nwosu's tenure; I also think Kyzir White is a potential loss, as well (though I'm not sure that's a great idea).
