At this point I do not expect Gorbon to see more than 18 carries a game untill Woodhead retires.
I am ok with that. Woodhead is playing at a very high level. I do think Gordon will see more carries if the Chargers play better overall and are not always playing from behind.
I'm predicting big things. I know it's the Steelers and they have limited the run game fairly well this season - EXCEPT for last week. And an o-line can't suck this bad for this long and keep a RB of Gorgonites talent bottled up without something giving. This is the game that our o-line decides to block. They want to prove to the world they are good enough and Monday night is a great venue to show it. And Gordon is like a racehorse climbing the starting gate because he wants to show the world he is the best rookie RB in his class - on national TV. Of course I could be wrong.
You saw it here first. All others are imitators.
23 carries for 130-150 yards on the ground and two TD's.
Five catches for 50-60 yards and one TD.
One fumble but we recover. Come on, no one's perfect!
I've posted this in another thread, but I'm with you Alex.
With the return of Gates, Melvin will finally break the big run he's been soooooo close to every game.
And, the Steelers aren't quite the Steelers, if you know what I mean?

Steelers defense isn't much these days, but the Browns run defense was ranked near the bottom of the league (if not the worst) and we couldn't really run on them either.
Gates's return might actually hurt the running game as he has to be one of the worst in-line blockers in the NFL. Hopefully the threat of him will spread things out. A lot of Gordon's numbers will be dictated by game flow and who is in and out on the offensive line.
My guess would be more of the same, I'll say a bit of an uptick with 15 carries for 75 yards.
I don't know if Gates is worse than Green, though. Gates is indeed very poor blocking but at least he knows his assignment and sort of gets in the way. Green has a long way to go.
Can Donald Brown return kickoffs so we can complain about him taking snaps away from Oliver?

Gates will command some double teams by opposing defense. Green didn't, so I'd expect there to be a bit more room to run.
I wouldn't mind seeing more carries, but after watching him whiff on that block early that nearly got Rivers killed he is t ready in the passing game with the way Woodhead is playing. And it's not like Woodhead is hurting us.
Yeah, I think his blocking is clearly the limiting factor. Until they're confident with his pass protection, he will play a limited role. Too bad, he looks great running.

Have him return punts, at least we won't mind as much when he gets hit!
