In Nor Cal it's been 60s and sunny in the day and 40s at night. Really nice today. Loving it.

it was Fouts who knocked on Brees' door. kind of surprising (not a Saints connection), but maybe they wanted a fellow HOF'er with a connection to Brees.

I couldn't think of a Saint with a Gold Jacket that had a direct link to Drew, but Fouts definitely did as a link in the chain. Larry Fitzgerald was notified by Randy Moss, who didn't play with him, Roger Craig got notified by Niner greats Ronnie Lott and Charles Haley, Luke Kuechly by Julius Peppers, at least a former Panther, and Adam Vinatieri by Morten Andersen, one of the two kickers that preceded him, the other Jan Stenerud, who lives in KC at 83.Originally posted by northerner View Postit was Fouts who knocked on Brees' door. kind of surprising (not a Saints connection), but maybe they wanted a fellow HOF'er with a connection to Brees.

USA! USA! USA! (no where related to football, except a famous ACL injury)
Breezy Johnson wins Gold in the Womens Downhill, but Lindsey Vonn crashed and had to be airlifted off the mountain. Breezy becomes the second woman after Lindsey to win Gold in the Downhill.
Gold in Team Figure Skating, Ilia Malinin pulled a 200 in the Mens' Free Skate to edge Japan by 1 place point.

My sis has had this pic for 40 years, but I never saw until now. It's my grandfather with his war bride, my grandmother. He was an American, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. In 1915, at the age of 21, after the sinking of the Lusitania, he crossed the Atlantic and enlisted in the British army at Manchester, UK. While stationed at Manchester he met my grandmother, an 18 year old girl from a local family. They married in 1916. Their 1st child was born in Manchester in 1917 - my dad. My grandfather served in the Lancashire Fusiliers in the Middle Eastern theater. He was deployed to Gallipoli for a time toward the end of the campaign there. Both my granddad and my dad were citizen soldiers who served in the respective world wars, in the armed forces of the British Empire. My dad served in the Canadian army, like his dad he married an English woman (not my mother) while deployed in England. She gave birth to a daughter while he was a POW after being captured at the Dieppe Raid in 1942. That daughter, my half-sis, is still with us, she lives in Worthing, on the South Coast of England. She turned 83 last week.
