Padres are gonna bang that’s for sure. That said October Baseball is all about pitching. IMO Hader is just as big a singing when viewed through the win now window and when he’s dialed in he shortens the game for the opposing offense. Get a lights out setup guy and it gets even shorter. Bullpens have become huge in the postseason.

HUGE moves by My Pads in the last 24-36 hrs. First they added a legit closer in Hader. Then Soto, Bell, Drury - I’m good trading away the prospects as Padres history is half of them never pan out. These are legit proven players. Padres might even split a series with the Dodgers now
Tatis
Drury
Machado
Soto
Bell
Profar / Myers / Grisham
Cronenworth
Alfaro / Nola
A lot of every day players are going to have to sit …
Thats a hell of a lineup“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

So, 2 or 3 days ago I watched an interview with Soto. He came across as someone who just wants to be competitive and win, not a "Me" guy chasing the money. The Nat's have been a dumpster fire since their WS win and Soto has had to watch the whole thing first hand. All the talent around him has faded away and the Nat's Front Office hasn't replenished it with FA signings and they've been awful in the draft too. Soto made it sound like if the Nat's were at least making an effort to be in the hunt he would have signed that contract offer from them.
I'm hoping he likes playing in SD and really connects with the guys in clubhouse. Great weather, great ballpark, strong Latino presence in community, FO that wants to win. Hell, he's known Tatis since they were teenagers. Maybe that will make a long term deal easier to negotiate. The biggest obstacle will probably be his agent.sigpic

I'm still nervous about Tatis. The kid is unpredictable as it is (I'm being kind) and now he's got a wrist injury that is healing very slowly due to his not dealing with the injury in a timely manner. I really am hoping that he'll be ready to go at the plate right away when he comes back but I worry. We could really use his explosive bat right now.

Tatis is not the biggest fish in the pond anymore. Soto is just 23 and I think he takes some of the bright light off of Tatis. Now let Tatis play hard, listen to Manny and put his ego in his back pocket. Time to win.......
