If another team wants to give Stick a shot as a starter, they will have the opportunity to acquire him next year without giving up any picks. But I don't see that happening, unless, God forbid, he has to step in for Herbert sometime this season and he plays lights out. More likely what will happen is that he re-signs as a back up with the Chargers next year. The Chargers will have to make a decision whether to keep him around.

Bolts should make a fair 2+1 offer to Stick...if he gets a better deal somewhere else, fine...extra decent backup QB's actually DO grow on trees...

In his MMQB column today, Peter King note that Lance, since high school, has only thrown 389 passes in college and real NFL games. I have real doubts about Lance as a pro QB, but I guess we will find out soon if he was worth all the picks the 49ers gave up to draft him. Meanwhile, Wentz's career is on shaky ground. Maybe Stick, the Chargers' 5th round pick in 2019, turns out to be better than either of them.

This Saturday, when the Chargers and Cowboys play, Stick and Chase Daniel will reverse roles: Stick will play the 1st Half with guys who will probably make the roster, while Daniel will play the 2nd Half, with guys who are unlikely to make the team, or vying primarily for a practice squad spot.
So we'll see Stick against better competition than he faced vs. the Rams, and a better supporting cast. If he still outplays Daniel by a significant margin? There's no point in having Daniel occupy a roster spot.

Still don't get the love for Stick. It's great that he had success against a lower level of competition in college but he is undersized QB who had a few garbage time snaps in 3 seasons and looked okay in preseason games against other teams backups. We are in deep trouble if he has to play, though pretty much every team in the league has that same problem.
