I could see that kick being the difference between making or missing the post-season in January. Speaking of which, if the Browns win the game, the Chargers remain the No. 7 seed.
That will ruin our position in the draft.
:whistlin:
More than half the AFC is .500 or under. The only strong wildcard competition for one of three wildcard spots right now are the 'Fins. The Chargers have a 4-3 record, are 4-2 in the conference and 2-1 in the division. As gloomy as it looks right now, the Chargers are actually in a good place standings-wise. If they can get into the post-season, anything can happen. We won't get JCJ back, but we will get Bosa, KA, MW back, and possibly Slater in the post-season.
I don't think you are one of those who thinks the Chargers should lose as much as possible for draft position next year. I don't think you are that ignorant. The draft is a crap shoot, position often turns out to be irrelevant. Plus, there's no guarantee that the Chargers won't suffer the same adversity next season, or worse. So anytime you can get into the post-season, jump at it, you never know what can happen. The Chargers have the talent.
Burrow looks pretty ordinary out there without his number 1 WR. Just saying...
Browns 172 rushing yards; Bengals 36. Maybe it's time to recognize what's going on instead of worrying about whether or not Justin Herbert is better than Joe Burrow, since they're both great.
All offseason I heard from chaincrusher and others that running the football doesn't win games in today's NFL. Yet, we have the Eagles undefeated with Jalen Hurts as their starter, Giants at 6-2 with Daniel Jones, Seahawks in first place in the NFC West with our former backup, Geno Smith, as their starter, and Vikings at 6-1 with Kirk Cousins. What's the common theme among them? They all run the ball very well. So do the Cowboys (6-2), who have played half the season with Cooper Rush at quarterback.
At the same time, look at where the defending Super Bowl champions are without a running game. The same is true with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who haven't come close to rushing for 100 yards since Week 1. The Green Bay Packers were 3-1 before losing three straight to the Giants, Jets, and Washington, getting outrushed badly by each of them in those games.
chaincrusher and a few others who said all offseason that you don't need to run the football to win in today's NFL would probably point to Josh Allen, an elite quarterback having an MVP-type season while leading Buffalo to a 6-1 record, yet the Bills have rushed for over 100 yards every game this season. Even the Chiefs are 4-0 when they rush for over 100 yards. They're 1-2 otherwise, with the one win coming against us, when they outrushed us 93-72.
Yes, it's great when we have Justin Herbert, Philip Rivers, or Dan Fouts at quarterback. It's also time for some of us, particularly those in the front office and on the coaching staff, to recognize there's much more to the game than the quarterback and the passing attack.

I'm not worried about it, just pointing out the massive drop off in the Bengals offensive output the first game Chase went out of the lineup. Whether you build your team to run or pass, IMO the more nuanced answer is that losing your best players, regardless of approach, is going to affect you. In our case, it's losing linemen, receivers, tight ends and having a banged up QB.

True but most of us knew Chain/Yuba didn't know what he was talking about. Just a stat guy, knew nothing about the game and it keeps getting proven over and over again.
You have to run the ball. You may get away with a game or two with a weak run game but being able to run the ball will always make the offense better.
To say you should pass every play is ignorant. In our case we don't run the ball great and are missing our best WRs and Herbert isn't himself with the ribs.

Other factors.
Cycles of football.
NCAA systems.
There are some holes.
EK, et al have to hit them better.
A biggish dynamic RB would be useful.
BUF is trying real hard to get an RB ATM. They could get burned in a close home playoff game in January weather.
tl;dr Bijan Robinson in my Round 1 Clusta. 6' 220# 4.4. Big and athletic. Comp Steven Jackson.
