If the Niners had dominated the game from start to finish, maybe. But the Chargers made a game of it, leading most of the night, and it was a good contest. The rivalry between the Chargers and Chiefs makes this game compelling.

I am more frustrated with the decision making process as far as bringing in replacement players, not adding a WR at the deadline.Originally posted by La Costa Boy View PostI can' even get mildly upset with last night's loss. When you are playing back-ups to the back-ups and guys are getting their first NFL snap starting on your OL, what the hell can we do???? This season has just become a train wreck with injuries, nothing more and nothing less. Until we get guys back healthy this attrition will continue to doom our season.
Bring on the Chiefs!!!!

I will say this -- I would agree with you.Originally posted by Berserker76 View PostI'm actually starting to admire Staley's coaching considering the injuries we have and the poor cupboard that TT has stocked. His mistakes are not unusual for such a young coach. Sack TT and find a GM that can provide some depth for this team, provided it isn't the Spanos clan that are still picking our personnel. If that's the case, we are simply screwed.
Telesco is terrible at his job. I am sick of his arrogance.
And if Telesco lets Dicker go - he is an idiot

Staley’s comment defied reality if he was trying to keep the defense from teeing off.Originally posted by richpjr View Post
Staley's comment (and implied buy in) of the run on first downs:
I understand the reason, but if you are in 2nd and 9 or 2nd and 10 every series the pass rushers are going to tee off anyway - and did. The problem is if we abandoned the run and tried to do more than dink and dunk by going downfield, Herbert would likely be sacked 10 times and throw 5 interceptions with what he is playing with. So you kind of have no good options here...
When you lead with a run and you’re facing 2nd and 10 on second down, they are going to be even more committed to teeing off on an obvious pass play.
Jesus, Staley just cut my opinion of him in half. I was giving Lombardi all the credit for this malpractice on first downs.

An offense that managed 52 yards in an entire half isn’t entertainingOriginally posted by Velo View Post

Uh W’s I have thought of the Washington generals in connection with the chargers. Or they used to refer to the always coming up short UCLA football team as the “gutty little bruins”.Originally posted by Bolt-O View Post
Nah, they needed a Washington Generals for the two weeks.

Nick Chubb, LT, Jim Brown…..you name it would all run into a brick wall the way this OL operates.Originally posted by electricgold View Post
Yep too bad someone like Nick Chubb wasn't our RB and the person we were running so often with.
There were no gaps whatsoever to run through, just a solid wall the defense put up at the LOS.
There is either something wrong with offense play scheming for runs or our OL are getting overpowered.
it doesn’t help that defense knows Lombo is calling a run on first down and Herbie is only likely to throw it 2-5 yards so they can stack the box.

They knew it was going to be short that is why we saw a lot of zone out there. They were baiting us to throw short of the stick then close in fast.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
Interesting because you list all the players that suck and then think it’s the HC needs to be replaced.
I actually think Staley did an amazing job with the defense considering how many DL and DE players are injured. Chargers were in the lead for 3 quarters in case you didn’t notice.
It’s Lombardi’s limp play calling that caused this loss. By the fourth quarter, SF knew exactly what he was going to call and shut it down.
