This season will tell us how good our coaching staff is.

It's easy to win 9-10 games when your team is as deep as Seattles, but when you have a bottom 5 team in the league in terms of pure talent, your ability to hang in with teams and finish 8-8 or better is a reflection of your coaching staffs ability to design gameplans around your players abilities. I honestly feel we have one of the better coaching staffs in the league and they will be tested in getting these players prepared each week.

This season will tell us some about Tommy T and McCoy but it probably won't come from the wins and losses

this is confusing. a bottom 5 team in talent? 8-8 means an ability to coach and game plan?

so does 7-9 (re: just 1 game short of 8-8) with a bottom 5 roster mean Norv coached fairly well? or is this one of those 7-9 record is a complete disaster equal to teams so lacking in talent that they can't even muster more than 6 wins over a span of multiple seasons?

this is a middle of the pack team out of 32, with a middle of the pack talent, middle of the pack talent potential, possibly middle of the pack in terms of wins, with first time HC. McCoy's biggest and earliest test, which everybody has said Norv failed at, is adjusting the game plans to accomodate a multitude of injuries, and tailoring it to the talent available. Mccoy isn't taking over a 1-15 team or a team that hasn't won more than 6 games in the last 4-5 years.

I think the coaches' jobs are less about game plans and more about getting the players to play as a team. In our particular case, the offensive line and other blockers have to work together to protect Rivers and give room to the runners. I remember, under Bobby Ross, the coaches took a bunch of scrubs and got that offensive line to get the job done. Turner and his staff failed at this. The offensive line immediately became worse the moment the coach took over. I hope the new coaches know what they are doing.

coaching is the most important part of a team. we learned that the hard way. dont know how many games we will win but I have confidence the players will be a lot better prepared and that should lead to good things...eventually.

also with all these injuries we will be relying on a lot of young players. while there will be growing pains this season, this will accelerate their learning curve and we will be better for it in 2014.

The players that have been injured are the young players

Johnny Patrick is younger than Williams? Larry English is younger than Ingram? Meachem is younger than Alexander?
