Patriots CB J.C. Jackson not traveling with team to Germany: Reports
By Chad Graff and The Athletic Staff
8m ago
Cornerback J.C. Jackson will not travel with the New England Patriots to Frankfurt, Germany, for their game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, according to multiple reports Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know:- Jackson started the Patriots’ 20-17 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday on the bench due to what The Athletic’s Jeff Howe termed “recent performance issues.”
- New England acquired Jackson, 27, from the Los Angeles Chargers via a trade in October and he has played in five games since, tallying 14 total tackles and three pass deflections.
- Prior to the trade, Jackson had played in seven games since signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract with Los Angeles ahead of the 2022 season.
It’s safe to say Jackson’s reunion hasn’t gone as planned for the Patriots. The team acquired Jackson in early October as part of a late-round pick swap in 2025 after Jackson’s tenure with the Chargers hadn’t gone well. The Pats saw it as a low-risk move. Even though Jackson hadn’t played well in L.A., the Patriots had previously had success with him, helping turn Jackson into a No. 1 corner in 2021. They thought they might be able to get a high level of play out of him again. Instead, Jackson has been unreliable.
He wasn’t a starter for the team’s game last weekend and declined comment after the game. Now he’s being left behind when the team goes to Germany. It’s not a great sign that the Patriots have lost confidence in Jackson just one month after trading for him. — Chad Graff, Patriots staff writer Who will play at corner?
The Patriots’ options at cornerback don’t inspire a ton of confidence for the game against the Colts in Germany, especially if there are any injuries. Jonathan Jones and Jack Jones are decent starters. But the depth drops off quickly after them. Myles Bryant and Shaun Wade could get plenty of playing time with Jackson not on the sideline. The other bad news for the Pats? The Colts’ passing game has been improving. In the first three weeks of the season, the Colts ranked 24th in dropback EPA/play. They’ve ranked 16th in that stat in the six weeks since. — Graff Required reading

I expect the next shoe to drop will be he’s kicked off the team for good and that’s the end of his football career.
That $40 million guaranteed from the Chargers puts him on easy street for life and turned him into a selfish jerk.

J.C. Jackson was traded back to the New England Patriots this week after a disappointing run with the Los Angeles Chargers, and now he's received even more…
The Chargers are giving former Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson a five-year, $82.5 million deal that includes $40 million guaranteed, a source said.

Not just in the locker room but for the defense as well? Haven't seen this talked about much but the defense seems to be playing better now that he is gone. I'm guessing he was causing many more problems than we were privy to. I hope we see more improvements from the defense. They are playing much better but still have things to work on. Any thoughts?1- #11 Bowers TE 7a- #225 Boyd DT

4a- #105 Rice WR

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is currently leading the NFL’s sixth-best passing offense by DVOA, but that doesn’t impress the Pats’ No. 1 corner.
J.C. Jackson is confident that the Patriots can slow down the Chargers offense this weekend. Maybe a little too confident.
When he was with the Patriots (1st stint) and said our passing game was not really a big challenge. That's when I knew he wasn't a bright person. Herbert was doing good in 2021.
That and seeing him doing dumb things while as a member with the Chargers makes me dislike him for his character. He should be called JC Jackass.
