One of the key reasons why the Bolts were able to shut down Tua in that win over the Fins was switching from mostly zone to a a mostly man defense. Before Vato tripped and allowed that TD catch to Hill, he had pretty tight man coverage on him. The rest of the game, he pretty much had him covered, no easy feat. This got me thinking of what it might look like once we get JC Jackson back, I assume next season due to that injury. Imagine manning up Vato and JC on each opposing team's wideout most of the time, and ASJ manning up on the slot receiver. In the past, Jackson has played more man D than zone. Look:
"One big reason for Jackson’s slow transition is that he is playing more zone coverage than before. According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Jackson has been in zone on 53% of his 101 coverage snaps. In New England, he played man coverage at least 60% of the time in the past three seasons."
What do you all think? Have the Bolts been failing to maximize Jackson's talents?
