no more offensive background HCs if you seriously want to break our loser mentality and improve THE TEAM. Rivers is not Fouts and we need to get over the fantasy they are carrying on the Air Coryell era offense legacy as a route to the Super Bowl. Take another chapter from our history with a HC like Boss Ross and QB like Humphries and reliable running game- which DID get to the Super Bowl.

So many HC openings and it's not a big year for hot candidates anyway aside from Payton if he is let go and I guess Gase.

David Shaw from Stanford already has said he's staying there, would have been the top college to pro guy. One other college coach that would be interesting is Tom Herman from U of Houston, but he only has one year of HC experience, and no pro experience, and already extended his contract. I've also heard that retread Jim Mora wants to come back... might be a good fit for the Chargers or Rams in LA.

Amazing... Coughlin isn't retiring. Payton might want that job, but Eli ain't Drew Brees. I like that Coughlin is falling on his sword vs. getting fired, he knows accountability.
