        Quite a few players will allow (small) discounts or perhaps more favorable contract terms to play for a team which has a chance at a ring. Brady's done it for years. No big discounts - you're completely right about that. The player in question usually has another agenda on his mind and totally maximizing the next contract is secondary to; a legitimate chance of winning a superbowl, playing for a specific coach / organization, giving the middle finger to another team, etc.

          ^ This. And if one of our FA's, or a prospective FA thinks another team gives him a better chance of going to the SB than the Bolts, he'll easily sign with the other team if the offers are somewhat similar...
