Last year he made a lot - he got torched in the JAX game when pushed into a primary role, didn’t he? I hope coaches are right and he’s gonna clean that shit up. A CB that makes 2 good plays then 1 bad play will kill a defense. Consistency is critical at CB

I don't understand how OC isn't THE most important OL position period.
I get the argument for LOT perhaps but the OC touches the ball first on every snap, they stand between the shortest distance between the defense and the QB.
they call out protections, they lead the OL
They support both guards and know the playbook as well as the QB.
yet, they are weirdly not valued as 1st round talents, at the same time we won't bat an eye after drafting Zion Johnson in the first.
wts, backup OC is absolutely vital and perhaps we can get away with a guy like Clapp for this season, but I really need to see a plan for a true heir post Linsley.
If we don't have an identified guy right now, I seriously want to see Zion groomed to take over as soon as next season.
Zion has the football IQ, technique and power to be an ELITE OC, maybe even better than OG.
It might be asking a lot this season because of the amount of shifting involved, but I really hope we have another future starter at LG on the roster to make this happen with Zion.
mcFadden at LG perhaps.
sounds like jaimes is as as good as done as a charger, Clapp, McFadden, Bailey, and Sarrell will be the back up O-linemen going into the season unless they decide to keep 10 guys. Both Bailey and McFadden provide flex as tackles too. last year they let queesenberry go because Clapp could play both center and guard. Sarrell will be the swing tackle, him and Clapp are the most experienced of the reserve group.
As for Jaimes, I can't imagine them cutting someone somewhere else just to keep him or another one of the guys battling for a reserve spot. I look forward to seeing if anyone else pops in the preseason games tho. Best case scenario for jaimes now is the practice squad..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. As we inch closer and closer to the Chargers’ first preseason game of 2023, some injuries and other ailments are starting to stack up.
According to The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day will “miss some time” with a quad injury he sustained during Friday’s practice. Joseph-Day missed 10 games during the 2021 season and a single contest this past season, but was otherwise healthy through his first two seasons in 2019 and 2020.
With Sebastian Joseph-Day out alongside fellow starter Austin Johnson, veterans Nick Williams and Morgan, along with rookie sixth-rounder Scott Matlock, will all see an increase in snaps with the first team for the foreseeable future. Other youngsters David Moa and 2023 UDFA Jerrod Clark could also get thrown into the mix, as well.
On another note involving players missing time, edge rusher Joey Bosa has joined Rashawn Slater and Gerald Everett as Chargers who will miss time today with an unspecified illness. With little information beyond that, we won’t know just how many starters will sit out Sunday’s scrimmage at SoFi Stadium, and at this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if the coaching staff decided to sit all starters in the name of caution.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.
