Let’s win one for Mack.

Sports journalism-- or more specifically, journalists interviewing athletes-- is an endeavor that has NOT improved even ONE iota in the half century that I've been paying attention to sports. It's the same set of empty, meaningless questions that fail to draw anything of substance from the athlete, and the same questions that you can't expect any degree of honesty about in a player's response. For example: "Do you agree with the call coach made on that 4th down play you failed to convert?" Or one of my all time favorites, "With as disappointing a season as it's been, do you think the coaching staff will be retained?"
IMO, sports journalists frequently do very sloppy, unprofessional work. There's a mental laziness in their interviewing that I've never encountered in any other line of work I've ever been involved in.
