Ekeler: Negotiated Incentives for 2023 Contract Year

I'd rather just have Ekeler back than spend a 2nd round pick on a role player. He is definitely more explosive than Ekeler, but Ekeler is an accomplished blocker and certainly has a nose for the end zone.Originally posted by Budsman View Post
If I’m looking for a receiving weapon at 21, there should be much better options. I’ll be honest I wasn’t super impressed with Gibbs. He’s fine for a second rounder but he’s fast after that he’s a project in pass blocking and he’s small. He feels like a 3rd down back that can’t take the beating of the NFL. Idk I could be wrong but he feels like a cost controlled great value Ekeler and while that’s fine it’s not round 1 fine imho.

I don't mind spending draft capital on a player like Gibbs - just not sure the 21st pick in the draft is the right use of draft capital. I think more than a 3rd down back they need a true # 1 RBOriginally posted by richpjr View Post

Ekeler is probably in his last year so I am not sure high draft capital is needed when the team has so many other needs

Gibbs is almost a 1:1 replacement for Ekeler. No chance taking him @21. But depending on what the Chargers think about the Ekeler situation I could seeOriginally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Gibbs being a 3rd round choice. TT is great at trading up for 2nd and 3rd rounders. I can see him giving up our 4th for Gibbs to move up and get him in
the 3rd round. But it's a difficult choice because there are so many other wants and needs. If we go heavy in rounds 1, 2 for offensive play makers you can
be sure there will be defensive choices in rounds 3,4, 5.

Telesco has traded up twice in the 2nd round and both times were average at best in Te'O and AttauochoOriginally posted by charger1_sj View Post

I'm going to laugh really hard when the top 3 backs are off the board before we even pick again in the 3rd. Moldy leftovers in the fridge again.Chiefs won the Superbowl with 10 Rookies....

Both LBs. And traded up for Murray, another LB, which was Lynn's guy.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

We found his true weakness. LB evals.
Let Staley pick the LBs for us.

Hold your horses there. Didn't Staley get rid of K. White and mis-used Nwosu as a DL guy? White had a good yearOriginally posted by Boltjolt View PostBoth LBs. And traded up for Murray, another LB, which was Lynn's guy.

with Philly and Nwosu was a standout for Seattle playing LB. Staley has yet to make his mark as a so called defensive
guru with the Chargers. Verify before trust.

I get it that there's a consensus in the chargers organization that we shouldn't spend a high draft pick on RB. There will be only maybe 3 RBs left in this draft worth a snot by the third round. After that you will be lucky to grab anything worthwhile in the fourth. So yes, there's going to be tradeoffs if they go this route I just hope they select some kind of playmaker in the 2nd or third round.Originally posted by sonorajim View Post

Still a chance Spiller could be the real deal. Hard to know though, he got like zero looks last year.Originally posted by gzubeck View Post

This is where a crafty GM would find a way to flip a disgruntled player for maximum draft capital, AND draft a better/younger player on top of it.
Not saying it would be easy in this situation with an aging RB on the last year of his contract, I realize that.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02
