What exactly are roadies?

The popular impression is that they move musical equipment between cities for popular rock acts for peanuts,
sleep on some manager's couch,
partake in the free flowing distribution of drugs in that culture,
and their primary goal is to sleep with some groupie trying to use them as access to the musicians.

How close am I? Family men? Women? Teamsters?

A big arena or stadium level rock/pop show is like a traveling circus. Semi trucks, staging, rigging for lights, video screens, etc. there’s a hierarchy among “roadies” depending on whether you’re a guy that builds or a guy that operates during the show. It can be hundreds of people for a stadium tour. And they get paid well, depending g on where they sit in the heirarchy. That’s why tickets cost so much.

now for a club band it’s the guys who carries the instruments in and out. Clubs have their own sound and lights so you don’t have to bring ‘em. Those guys don’t make much.
