    Mario Williams

    Just released by Buffalo.

I think he'll think of himself as a top dollar guy, but he's 31 years old. Still, even on the decline, he'd be an upgrade on our line.

    So, what's the opinion...

    Interested regardless of cost?
    Interested at the right price?
    Pass?

I'd rather bring in young talent in this deep DL draft. Find more OL/wr with the money.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Well, I think he plays OLB in the 3-4... so do you want him out there in place of Ingram/Emmanuel/Attachou/Williams/Law?

He's a declining player. I'd rather stick with our 3-4 younger guys and let them grow. When Attachou and Ingram were both on the field, the pass rush was better.

We really need a front 3 player or two, more than an OLB.

        Just my opinion.
"...of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

Even if he had enough left in the tank we'd surely misuse him.

Williams would only help the roster, but I'd rather go after Malik Jackson.

He's still better than most of the OLB on the roster.

Not sure what his $ expectations are, but on a reasonable deal after he's shopped himself and not gotten what he expects I think it would be a good signing. He's never lived up to his top billing but his last yr in Hou and during his time in Buffalo his health and production improved. I think we could somehow find a way to plug him in the rotation with Attaochu and Ingram. The young group incl Tourek and Emmanuel could only benefit from a veteran presence.

Word on the street in Houston was that he was a pretty high character guy.

reminds me too much of another MW from Buffalo we once pinned our defensive FA hopes on...

He wasnt happy in Ryan's 43 Under/34 D. He will end up with a team that will use him at 43DE. And not dropping into coverage. And its not like we are a pure 34 team anyways. So he would help. But the rumor is that he gave up last year. Didnt even try he was so unhappy.

I pin my lips on a player from Buffalo every Sunday - his name is Suicide Wings.

Some of the suggestions I've seen - trade our first pick for OL, sign Mario or insert high-priced FA here - seem as if some think we're close, real close to being able to win games. Are we? Yeah we have Rivers and if we add a couple prop-us-up players, sure we can win a couple more. But thinking about it, we are pretty far from being a solid contender, I think I'd rather not sign any high-priced guys or trade away picks - unless it's a trade down - and simply keep building from the ground up. Which, when all is said and done, I think TT is doing, with draft picks at least. He's got us some nice young guys, I don't think they're seasoned enough yet, he should keep bringing in the talent. If he believes Bosa at 3 for instance is worth it, do it. Plug in FAs that make sense and don't hamstring us in the future. Draft draft draft.
