This whole thing is weird, but I can't help but think that maybe the Bosa side is right in this? I mean, why would he not hold out for the signing bonus to be paid in full this year? That makes no sense to me that the team can defer part of the bonus to next season, why is that even legal with the Player's Union and salary cap structure?

I always thought that whatever you earned in that state, you were subjected to that state's tax rate. So if the Chargers gave him a bonus of X millions of dollars up front, wouldn't that still be subjected to whatever California taxes are levied since the Chargers reside in CA?
