I've heard that idea tossed around but why would he do that? He will pass on a $17 million signing bonus and $25 million total contract to almost assuredly get drafted much lower than 3rd next year and losing a crap ton of money, not to mention endorsements, etc. I'd be shocked if he doesn't reluctantly sign right before week 1 to get all his money if the Chargers don't budge. Of course, if he decides to sit out the year on principle than he is a total and utter idiot.

I don't think it's about how the organization applies, uses or manufactures leverage. It's more about the organization's continual delusions of possessing leverage that does not exist.
