Two 1 - 15 teams are going head-to-head the last game of a season. There is a generational QB who will be in the draft. Both teams need that QB, but only the loser will get him. Do you want that 2nd win or that QB? The game nobody wants to win.

Take the win. With the 2nd pick take the HoF DE and watch the generational QB fade into oblivion like most do.

Except that we are already losers and nothing to play for. The players and coaches are playing for their jobs. So it's a bit different for them.
But for us fans it benefits the team to lose rather than win. Doesn't mean I'm going to root for the opposing team. Hope they play a good game,

Really don't care about the other teams in our division at this point. Means nothing to beat them at this time. Denver may tank. Chiefs won't
so we really have to put in our best effort to beat them.

That's your short sighted view. I want a competitive team that ultimately wins a SB. Better players help that cause.
Theoretically better players are found earlier in the draft and you also have more value to trade down.
