Capt Clay Pederson Sr (Ret) was a real life Rambo; Green Beret, Jump Master, Bronze Star(v) Purple Heart and too many other decorations to list. The Rambo comparisons also hold true with the damage done by PTSD and Agent Orange.
We moved to SD in 1976 and were Chargers season ticket holders until I left in 96.
He was the biggest Chargers fan I knew besides me and although we had our differences, it was always our common ground and we spent hours disecting plays from Fouts to Rivers.
His favorite player was #55 and would often hang out at Seaus on the chance he would get meet Junior. Much to my surprise he actually did.
If you have a moment tomorrow, think of my Pops when toe strikes leather and we crush the Titans

God bless you and your Pops!! I lost my old man 22 years ago and not a day goes by that I don’t think of him! He took me to my first game back in ‘72. We suffered and rejoiced together for many years. I pray we will all be reunited again one day to celebrate our one Lord and Savior and the gift of chargers football!

I'm reminded of a scene in the movie City Slickers, where the guys are trying to explain to a woman in the group how they bond over baseball (which she thinks is so childish). She just doesn't get the appeal. Daniel Stern's character explains to her, "I guess it is childish....but when I was about 18...and my dad and I couldn't communicate about anything at all...we could still talk about baseball. Now that was real."
It's great to see a father and son bond over our beloved Chargers.
My heart goes out to you and your family. I'm thankful you have many wonderful memories to cherish.
