Herbert has had the bad D his entire career. In his 3 years plus 2 games his D has allowed 25.7 points per game. Compare that with Mahomes: over the same stretch the KC D has allowed 21.6 points per game. 4.1 yards per game is huge - we have lost 11 games by 4 points or less in Herbert's career.

I think Herbert is really pissed about the offensive line letdowns. If he mentally checks out it's because Staley just cannot or refuses to come down on the oline players not delivering. It's a sieve and Herbert knows it and he can become fickle about such things without actually having to mouth off about it. Body language here.
