Well it's now become apparent even I overestimated their talent level in the OP. They really only have a couple of NFL caliber players on either side of the ball. Players that used to be good are now average or worse. Derwin and Slater went from all pros to below average players. Mack and Keenan are the only 2 players on the entire team getting it done consistently. Curious if anyone still thinks this is one of the most talented teams in the NFL?

He is terrible at his job. One of the worst GMs in football. There was zero reason to not bring in competition for JK Scott -yet, Telesco didn't do a damn thing

Telesco needs to hit the road
    And if they lose Sunday
should be open for business and on November 2 - Telesco should be unemployed

I truly do not know what happened to James -- but under STaley, he has been so average
    Bosa is just not there
    Williams is hurt

I think they should trade Ek, Davis and Bosa next week if they lose

Player by player here's how I'd rate the talent on a 10 point scale.

    Grading scale:

    3: practice squad
    4: below avg starter
    5: NFL starter
    6: above avg starter
    7: very good starter
    8: solid pro-bowler
9: elite player - no weaknesses - above avg in every category

    Offense:

    QB: Herbert 6
    RB: Ekeler 7
WR: Allen 6 (I give him a 6 & not higher because he doesn't change the way defenses have to play)
WR: Williams 7 (really should be more like a 5 but I'm giving him a 7 for now because he still changes defenses & teams are still giving him safety help down the field)
TE: Everett 6 (trending toward a 7 if they keep utilizing him)
LT: Slater 9 (truly one of the very elite players in the NFL)
LG: Zion 4 (not worth the 1st round pick)
    C: Linsley 7
RG: Salyer: 5 (what a pleasant surprise he's been)
RT: Pipkins: 5 (pretty good in the run game but still inconsistent in pass pro)

    Avg score of offense: 5.63

    Defense:

    DT: Joseph-Day 4
    DT: Austin Johnson 4
Edge: Mack 6 (still really really good against the run)
Edge: Bosa 7 (below avg off tackles still have no chance against him)
    LB: Murray 4
    LB: Kendricks 5
    CB: Davis 4
CB: JC Jackson 3 (not recovered enough to be capable of consistently covering anybody)
CB: A. Samuel 5 (in coverage he's more like a 4 and tackles like a 3 but I give him a 5 because he does create turnovers)
    S: Derwin 8
    S: Gilman 4

Salyer is the worst of the 5 starters on OL. Zion has been disappointing, but I think he has more upside and can get better. I'm convinced now that Austin Johnson isn't that good. The team needs a true and dominant NT. This has hindered the franchise on defense for years. I'm still not a fan of Kenneth Murray even after some of his good plays. Michael Davis has peaked and regressed.

This team is talented in some areas, but lacking in other areas. The OL is bad and the secondary is awful. They need better linebackers and running backs.

He really has - back to 2021 form and the reason we signed JCJ in the first place. The sad thing is, he has a worse season PFF grade than JCJ does.

I say we just keep sliming Mack. If that's all it takes...

    Maybe a Dual-slime-shot on Bosa & Mack.

Van Noy & Callahan were the cheapest of that class and came in and played really high quality football. The rest of that free agent class - Joseph Day, Austin Johnson, & JC Jackson - have really been a total abortion & gigantic waste of $$. Nick Williams is currently probably the best defensive tackle on this football team & one of the lowest paid. He was a good recent signing that nobody has talked about. But most of those '21 free agent signings have been terrible.
I call it puzzling. Van Noy and Callahan might have been our best defensive players during that late season stretch. If Bosa wouldn’t have been called offsides against JaX Callahan had a big sack that might have enabled us to win.

    • Derwin and Bosa are legit veteran stars but simply cannot ever stay on the field
    • Mack was on the decline from day 1 and was a terrible acquisition. He's just so-so, but sooo much money spent.
    • JC Jackson is an impossible tragedy of resources down the toilet
    • D-tackle group seems like one cheap veteran bandaid after another.
    • K-9 is terminally lacking football IQ
    • Asante is a baller but undersized
    • Tuli is the best news for the future

Telesco simply has a poor batting average and doesn't understand how to work a draft, particularly the craft of trading down. Free agency cannot overcome perpetually mediocre drafts. The massive swings-for-the-fences FA moves have been strike-outs.
Might be the post of the year.
