Will enough of our players actually give a fuck? I think that has to be the number one question. After that I have to ask myself "Will it be enough to beat the teams in our division?" Then of course there are injuries. Do we have the depth required to have a winning record?
So far we know that at least four of our players last season dogged it. They admitted as much. Not good.
Can we beat divisional foes with questionable effort? Can we afford to do that? I would say not based on how that's worked in the recent past (haven't won a divisional matchup in almost two years running).
Is our depth appreciably improved from last years? While I am a fan of our first waivers foray I would have to say NO at this point at least. Need to see how Williams, Reid, and Desir play before getting too excited. No for now - our depth cannot be expected to be much improved based on what we've all seen in preseason. However unmeaningful the preseason may be. What else do we have to go on?
Based on what I see right now I can't see more than five or six wins. Too many crucial things working against us. Until I see the Chargers actually playing tough - and staying tough - throughout a divisional game in particular I have to say we're roughly like last season's team - 4-12. Six wins is best case scenario. This prediction could change if I see stand-out effort from both our offensive and defensive lines. That would definitely change my pov. Until then I'm in Missouri mode. But not in Kansas City, Missouri - Warsaw, Missouri!
