That last punt was a big factor in losing, but I am not going to ride the rookie punter, because if you come down to relying on the punter to win the game there are other problems. It isn't like it was FG kicker with a chance to decide the outcome, way too many things went wrong before this punt, bad play calling offensive & defensive, and bad tackling

Overall, the special teams were not good. The punter failed to pin them back when he had the chance and he shanked one at a crucial time. The place kicker did miss a FG giving them great field position which they took advantage of. Say what you want about coaches decisions in these spots the players were still expected to execute. Its not like the coach asked them to do something they hadn't done before.

Yes but will still get penalized by having them come out to the 25 now. Goodell is ruining the league by giving incentives for not running out a kickoff.

It doesn't help when someone on the coverage team is offsides, putting them on the 30. Also, Mager isn't good enough to run out of the endzone to try to get beyond the 25. Because of the injury situation, I like that Lambo can kick it out of the endzone, consistently, and the time practicing a short kick is put on other efforts as well. I can see an adjustment coming that will try to obviate those short kicks as they aren't helping in reducing the total number of 'dangerous' kick returns... and causing the Massholes a conniption fit, blaming the league for hating the P*ts.

To be fair, Kaeding was good when it wasn't crunch time. Kaser was bad the entire game.

He boomed them, but of the games I watched he boomed them right out of the endzone. It didn't seem like he knew how to drop them inside the 10 or 20 yet, but that's a skill that can be learned.

Hey Rook, nice 17 yard punt at the 1:59 minute mark of the 4th quarter. Good job! Oh, and by the way, if you don't start moving with a greater sense of urgency you're going to have a punt blocked within the next week or 2. Guaranteed! Mike Scifres was a little slow but at least his punts were boomers and he was considered a good defensive weapon at times. Suck it up buttercup!
