I see Mack being gone if they can’t afford him.

They can trade him to a team with a tone of Cap space like Carolina.

let’s look at the L.A. Ram model

Jalen Ramsey All pro corner had to be gone.

They got rid of a lot of people.

I think James stays Bosa does a restructure Allen does a restructure.

And Mike Williams leaves and goes to Washington.

I think not. He can make more money elsewhere and we drafted Henley.

TOP + points? Dare we dream?
        Exactly.

But it wasn't like it was all about Moore or Lombardi making bad calls. Plenty (most?) of those 3rd qtr were pass protection breakdowns ... or missed run blocks for a big loss ... or dropped passes ... or a couple penalties in a row -> those are all things that Harbaughism fixes. His teams are about physical ... fundamentals and execution. Just come out and on the first play after the half, call an inside run or power. Everyone focuses on getting good solid contact on their guy, lock up and just play to the whistle. Don't think, don't worry, just execute. Then go into the adjustments from the 1st half.

The third year? Young, talented, dangerous and led by a veteran QB.....#winning!
I'm with Topcat. Floyd would be right, if we had to replace the bulk of the roster. But that isn't what Harbaugh does. Harbaugh takes the guys who are there and makes them good players. His good players become great players. And this isn't like he did this at one of his coaching stops. It has been that way at EVERY coaching stop. He doesn't run off underachievers, he COACHES them and makes them better.

He might have some more to overcome than some stops, but he had some pretty tough stops. Stanford was bad. He beat USC (#2 ranked team) 5 games into the season, being a 41 point underdog. Harbaugh knows the shortcut to being great is to not take shortcuts and just focus on being fundamentally sound and hit the other guy in the mouth. It's not that difficult. Not that learning technique and playing smart is easy. But doing other stuff doesn't get you where you want to go, so why waste your time on it?

If the Chargers could have found a way to win close games, this team ... the one that looked just awful ... could have been a playoff team. We lost the beatdown to the Raiders, Ravens by 10, we lost one KC game by 14, and the 1st Donks game by 17 and the 2nd Donks game was by 7. The rest were all very winnable. And let's remember that there are bunch of playoff teams on the close game list. Lions, KC, Ravens, GB, Dallas, Buffalo... The kind of wins that Harbaugh's style wins most of the time, which again doesn't add the toughness and physicality of Harbaughism.

We lost 12 games, 5 of them by a fair margin, and then 7 that were by a FG. We win those 7 games, we win the division and more wins than any wild card team. Maybe we don't win them all, but we are already competitive now. A coach like Harbaugh addressses a lot of needs just by being our coach.

Minter isn't coming over here because he sees cap problems and average players on defense.
He's sees pieces he can use right away.

He could have just stayed in Michigan and continued to collect his generous salary.

Coordinators have shorter shelf lives than head coaches and have to hit the ground running.
To those who say the Charger talent is overrated on defense: Minter mostly disagrees.

It greatly underachieved due to a dunce of a head coach.

Don't worry about our OL now. Harbaugh will have a very good OL. He always does. And, he may do it with the same players because he makes decent players become good players and good players will become great players. The Dl will become one of the best in the league too.

Nuts to those of you that expect it to take him two or three years to turn it around - check out how he's done in the past.

AND - Thank you to the Spano's family for making this change.

Oh, I absolutely think we can turn this thing around quickly, and maybe back in the playoffs next year...I also, however, have tempered and open minded expectations, and would be ok if we didn't...I do figure year 2, should be well on track by then, if we don't nail it the first year...all in all...the team is gonna be much funner to watch, I think, immediately.

While it would be terrific if we could turn this thing around in a year, those are the kind of high - unreasonable? - expectations that will inspire a "Fire Harbaugh!" thread in Year One. Rome wasn't built in a day. And while a number of NFL have experienced a fast turnaround from one crappy year to the next, to EXPECT that is asking for trouble, IMO. If Harbaugh can come here in his first year and establish a new, sound football, winning attitude and culture, and be (mostly) competitive, that would constitute a successful season, to me at least.

I'm excited about Minter. Asst DB coach in Bal, he knows the NFL and is used to working with young players.
I think our pass D takes a major step up with last years players. We have some decent athletes that were badly coached.
Plus a new guy or so.

Of course they can turn things around.
They were in playoffs in 2022.
2023 they had a bad year filled with injury and close losses and a young coach still doing on the job training.
They upgraded at HC. And no doubt will be upgraded at GM once they finalized who that is. That won't impress me to make playoffs.
Win a playoff game. Then I'll be impressed.
I think that has to be the expectation in 2024..
they didn't have Williams, Bosa or Linsley for most of 2023 season anyway. So cut them. Jim needs to win without them.
