Bosa is gone. IMV. I think Joe Hortiz is simply doing the math. He may already have a deal somewhat in place for a 3rd Rd 2025 pick. Just waiting until after June to execute the deal..
I don't think he cares about the roster bonus if he knows he will save an additional 8mil this year and get a 3rd Rd pick. Is that worth 7mil. I think it is. .....

I'm going out on a bit of limb here....Joe Hortiz is the best GM we had since Butler. What funny to me.... personally is that in Wishlist thread from 4 years ago....I posted that I wanted Telesco fired and replaced by Joe Hortiz. And it actually happened this year and we get Harbaugh as a super bonus.

If the Chargers are going to pay the $7m -- I don't think a 3rd in 2025 is enough. I think it would need to be a 2nd plus another pick. Because the cap savings from a June 1 has just been offset by paying him the $7m bonus. I am not opposed to that idea if the pick(s) are worth it. Not paying the 7m bonus for a 2025 6th rounder though - that much cap space - you can sign two pretty decent players for depth

As for your pronouncement on Hortiz - I agree - I think he will do great things.

I haven't seen any tweets that indicate that. It won't surprise me if he's back; when healthy and focused he is one of the best in the league, but won't care if a cut helps the team to sign improvement elsewhere.

No legit tweet reported that he refused to take a paycut. Just those annoying aggregators.

We have until Saturday to either pay the roster bonus and keep Bosa around until a trade or June 1st release. OR get a trade done or release before Saturday so we
wouldn't have to pay the roster bonus. Something tells me we may see movement on Bosa before Saturday.

Popper just put out a spreadsheet that shows the team would be about $10m over the cap if you count draft picks and an in-season fund

If the Chargers june 1 Bosa - that would put them $12m under the cap

With $12m - can do a bit of damage

Center: 3m
Back up QB: 2m
IDL: 4m
LB or CB: 3m
