True, with Our Ladd's injury history, I'd rather not expose him unnecessarily to any high speed collisions...Let DD and Still handle the return duties...

LOL...Launchwhiffy...the gift that keeps on giving...hopefully Harbo and Minter give an earful to anyone guilty of this sin...
(And make them do 100 pushups also for each launch and whiff in practice or a game...)

Why are people talking about Simmons? We gonna sit Alohi after just giving him a multi year deal? I get Simmons is an upgrade...but rather use our resources on needs...as they arise, or in the future. We just got outta cap hell...the safety position seems ok to me....only way I see Simmons as a good move, is if you are thinking him or Derwin in the slot...sounds iffy to me...
        Adopted Bolt: Kimani Vidal RB

Final prediction: Latham OT, Colson LB, Sainristil CB,Rice WR, Zinter OG, Nourzad OC, MacLachlan TE, Vidal RB, Lovett DT

I mention Simmons for two reasons
          1) there is lack of depth at Safety
          2) in looking at lists of free agents, he is one of the two or three best players on most lists I have seen

I have always wondered how he would fit with James and gilman but aside from that - he is a good player

As for the contract -- it wouldn't be anything at this point of more than one year - -maybe a void year added = but something like one year, up to $6-7m

Sorry I haven't been posting for a while, but here's something: The Chargers have really turned over their roster. Of 87 currently rostered players, 40 are new (indicated by brackets in the following list--FA, UDFA, or Drafted).

Of their 27 free agents from last season's team, they only re-signed four: Gilman, Stick, Dicker and Sarell. Nine signed with other teams, and 14 remain unsigned, including Jalen Guyton and Joshua Kelley.

The breakdown between starters and reserves is taken from Popper's preliminary depth chart in The Athletic.

WR, CB, and safety depth are still lacking, in my view.

The 47 holdovers come from a group of 80 possible holdovers, consisting of 53 players on the main roster at the end of last season, 11 on IR, one (Linsley) on Reserve/non-football illness, and 15 on the practice squad.

The players not brought back consist of the 23 free agents the Chargers didn't re-sign, four released players (Mike Williams, Eric Kentricks, T Andrew Trainer and CB Amechi Uzodinma), Keenan Allen who was traded, and five players not brought back from the practice squad as it was at the end of the season (OL Austen Pleasants, WR Terrell Bynum, TE Hunter Kampmoyer, TE Stephen Anderson, DL Christian Covington). That's a total of 33.

I think if they are liking Hart as FS, then would expect another CB signing.

QB will be interesting. Does Bauman throw the football better than Duggan. He is a big kid, 6'7. Played at Montana St before going to Augustana. I can see him being on the PS ahead of Duggan

TE: Stone Smart or Parham, I think only one makes the cut

RB and WR: we know big turnover with Ekeler, Kelley, Allen, Williams and Guyton, not back.

I didn't see Hart as Chargers FS. ?

regardless, the DB numbers (17) are good for OTA sorting IMO.

Per Hortiz "you never have enough". We're looking, could be a signing.

TE Zak Heins 6-6, 264 S Dak St is a strong blocker, decent hands. Luke Benson, Geo Tech ran 4.43. It'll take some sorting.

Hart seems to fit the boundary CB they like. Still is probably closer to the safety/Slot CB mold.

If you sign Simmons, it’s because your starter went down. They’re looking for backups right now since it’s DJ and Gilman as the starters.

It would be great if Pipkins could successfully switch to guard, upgrading from Salyer. From Popper’s latest article:

When asked what Devlin likes about Pipkins’ potential move to guard, he said, “He’s big. He’s athletic. He’s a people mover, (from) what I see on tape. He’s smart.”

Devlin added: “Everything we’re doing right now is a transition — different techniques, different names of plays, different philosophies, everything.”
