There are about four offensive weapons that can have major impact.
We are pretending, or gambling that we will get lucky otherwise.
Then we can stand around with our hands in our pockets watching Herbert's career waste away, just like Rivers.
Every draft there are players we draft, and good, useful players we don't.
So make the judgement calls about talent levels, be proactive, and don't look back.
At #22 Hunter, Jeanty, Warren, Loveland, and probably Tet, Hampton will be gone.
Our depth is getting better and better and will be reinforced post draft.
Losing picks is not fun, but our purported level of need across the board is exaggerated in fans eyes IMO.
I strongly suggest that everyone scrutinize who is available from 100 to 250, and compare that to the top 100.
The Beast is out in a few hours. We play modern Harball.

I am on board w/Wu’s rationale for Chargers big move up the board! Why not given how H&H have positioned the roster this off season. RB check w/Harris, WR check with Williams, TE check w/Conklin, IOL check with dudes. All capable starters. Time to get a weapon to punish teams w/Herbert.
I see the opportunity costs from Herbert POV not draft capital.

You, sir, are a legend! Or will be, as soon as Hacksaw gets wind of you! (And when Hacksaw 'gets wind'...)
I'd have to see the board at #22 to know how I'd feel about trading back, but Joe isn't stupid, so if he *does* trade back? He has a plan.
I think the trade back scenario is most likely if pick #22 is the crossroads at the corner of QB Prospect Avenue and Desperate Team Boulevard. A team willing to pay the QB Premium might find a trade partner in Joe Hortiz.

Ghost of Quacksaw, not Zion giving move to center project. Pip sure, not that he has trade value.

Conklin was a good signing but he is the prototypical "journeyman" player. He has value. He will be in the league. But he is not a true number 1 TE
So you are sacrificing a bunch of good players for one player when the team is not close -- they Chargers until they win playoff games are not close.
Chargers can get a weapon without having to sacrifice the depth of the roster. And if I am moving up for anybody - it is not RB in this draft class, its probably not Tyler Warren as he is not Brock Bowers and as miuch as I like TMac - he is not at the level of Odunze, Thomas , Nabers or Harrison were last year. So overpaying for lesser talent is not wise.
Now, if TMac or Loveland slide to the late teens and you want to do take a 1/3 for a 1/4, like I cam e up with Tampa -- I can see that type of trade. Not crazy, still getting a 4th rounder back but getting a player of need at WR or TE
RB - so many good ones

Plus if you do the math, one of the players you mentioned will be there. I've seen plenty of mocks where Hampton is available late 1st.

Yes there will be good players in round 2 & 3, and that is exactly what will help us find a trade partner.
There are also good players at our PONs ie EDGE/DT in rounds 4 & 5 in this draft.
Our surplus round 6ers can be used to trade up and strike for select prospects in the mid 100's.
IMV critical needs are reduced to RB (sustain the running attack along side Najee) ... and EDGE (developmental player behind Khalil).
The retention of Pipkins, presence of Salyer/Zion, signing of Bozeman, James and Becton has me convinced we are about done at IOL, other than a late developmental Gap/Power type.
With a high end, two-headed running attack, WR/TE touches will be few, and blocking assignments many (MW, QJ, KA & Dissly, Fisk, Matlock = excellent blockers!).We play modern Harball.
