Exactly, Dupree is the best #4 Edge player we've had in ages and people need to complain about this, why? can't be the money or the production...

this extension creates continuity for the 2026 roster in case Mack hangs them up for good. Now they have 3 of the 4 edge spots filled going into the 2026 season and with Mack a year to year guy at this point it's the right way to have continuity in the room.

I kinda think I know what this negativity over a depth piece like Dupree might mean, it means that folks want depth but then when they get it they don't understand what it looks like and can't recognize it after a decade of TT.
Depth, depth, depth, and more depth... Dupree>Bosa given Bosa's injury history. We'll just draft or pick up another DE in next years draft and possibly sign a free agent next year. There's no law that says Dupree can't improve also after a year under Minters system and it will be two years next season.

I didnt see much in the pass rush either, as a starter. As depth he’s a good piece. Starting elite edge rushers cost >$30M nowadays

I said I wasn't impressed by the season Dupree put together, and you have conflated that with complaining.

If I was criticizing Dupree, I'd have said he stinks, and it was a mistake to sign him. What I actually said was that I hope Minter plays Dupree more to his strengths.

I'm with you. I wasn't overly impressed with his last season either. $6M for a part-time edge guy they can sub in without catastrophe is a good deal for the team, I'm fine with the 1 yr extension. Bud knows he's not "the guy" or he wouldn't sign for that money - everyone knows what "the guy" edge players get paid.

I'm hoping that one of Bud's motivations for extending is that he sees for himself that the team is rounding into a legit title contender. Every player wants a piece of that.

1st Rounder - Bud Dupree (22nd overall). 7 Sacks. Nice.

When was the last time we had a #4 edge produce 7 sacks and we all saw him go for fumbles a few times that cost him another 2-3 sacks...not sure what it would take to impress you from a 4th edge player in the rotation, his 18 run stops were not bad either, again, in spot duty as a depth piece.

there was nothing unimpressive about what Dupree did last year, he made things happened when his number was called and he filled his role, simple as that, he's happy playing in LA for cheap knowing that his days are numbered and he looks like he's having fun out there and is probably a nice veteran presence in the locker room too. He came to LA to play with Mack, so him signing thru 2026 bodes well for our chances to keep Mack around after 2025. Dupree is the kind of signing that would never had happened under TT unless if Tom had broken the bank to bring him in...

what where you expecting a 13 sack season or something?

it's basically an added year at the rate he's making now which is around 3mil a year, he'll probably get no where near triggering those incentives because he's not going to start.

They extended him as a reward for the season that he had, unlike the critics here on the forum the team was probably very happy with what they got from their veteran #4 edge and found a way to give him some kind of a signing bonus that he otherwise didn't have coming, like in the form of a roster bonus or the sort of thing normally included in longer term deals, longer than the 2 year deal he signed in 2024...

Bud Dupree as a situational rusher and backup had a solid season! He also has the dog in him and the ability to make big plays in key moments. He had as many sacks as Mack had and really one more since he was robbed on a sack because of a bonehead penalty. Happy he got the extension for our depth.
