Dudes are having a hard time thinking in terms of TEAM football.
Team football involves rbs and wrs?

You are basically telling us NO, anyone will do, provided they follow the script.

And Dobbins health will be key to that as well as the WRs all taking steps forward.

The defense feels more solid but again we will be depending on guys like Henley and Colson to play and play well and oft injured guys like Bosa and Perryman to avoid IR. ST should be a top unit.
Interior is a big question mark .... particularly Bozeman/Pip.

I would have been in favor of drafting Jackson Powers Johnson ... because if you are going to fix the Oline, then don't just go half way.

You have to see it from the national pundits perspective though. We see the team closely, and through Charger color glasses i might add, but you really cant say we are great at the skill positions. A lot of unproven young players, retread fliers and maybes . Maybe Dobbins finally stays healhy and fulfills his vast potential. Maybe the young unproven WRs progress. The TE group is better at blocking but is hardly scary in the pass catching department.

I am optimistic and think we could surprise. I am mostly excited about the new direction of the team long term. But there is a world where this offence could sputter a bit and take a while to come together.

Anyway, we start finding out next week, Ms. Russini......
Oh no question, given that the new regime inherited a team 50 million over the cap that had 5 wins, and 58% of the cap went to 4 players, they have done an amazing job in their first off season of sorting this out.

Baltimore has 3 new guys on their OL and are very highly thought of. I think their line will be problematic and will cost them a few games. We have what looks to be a solid or better OL and are poorly thought of as a team.

As an O Line centric fan, I think the talking heads have the team opinions exactly reversed. Time will tell.

Thursday night will tell. Ravens against Chiefs. Go Ravens.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
            Let’s win one for Mack.

More like Dudes look around the league and see how we stack up in terms of scoring which is necessary to win games. We've got cast offs at RB and TE and guys that'll have to step up at WR. It could work and we hope it does.

I pounded the table for Harbaugh and believe in him. Excited to see how it plays out.
Everybody preaches team football... blah, blah, blah... because it wins games and championships.
The Chiefs didn't win the Super Bowl because of their 15th-best scoring offense last year.
They won because their 2nd-best scoring defense held the 1st-scoring offense (Dolphins) to 6 points in the playoffs.
Then they held the 2nd-best scoring offense to 19 points in the Super Bowl.
              Complimentary football... blah, blah, blah.

Where you see "castoffs"... Jim&Joe see productive value players that fit their system and make us a better/deeper team.
Will Dissly isn't a sexy pickup. But he's one of the best blocking TE's in the league.
Joe Alt isn't a sexy draft pick. But he was the best at a position we desperately needed to run Greg Roman's offense.
For once, we'll be able to run right or left. For once, we'll be able to pass block long enough for WR's to get down field.
They make us an offense that can attack horizontally and vertically any play.
We'll be exponentially harder to defend. We'll maximize Herbert's potential this way.

Where you see "castoff" RB's... Jim&Joe see a productive RB in Gus-the-Bus (4.9 ypc)... they see JK Dobbins as potentially the best FA value pickup of the off-season. They also see several FA RB's (and several RB's on other teams' practice squads) that could easily be attained if Dobbins gets injured. RB's are a dime-a-dozen... and very productive behind solid OL's.

Where you see WR's that need to step up (and I agree)... Jim&Joe see WR's that haven't been used correctly by former teams/coaches. They see depth, potential, and scheme fit. Chark and QJ have speed and acceleration needed to run the routes that will stretch defenses vertically. Palmer and McConkey are the good route runners that stretch a secondary horizontally. I love the fact that Harbaugh/Roman have decided to get the ball to DD in practice. I love his his end-around TD run in PS. Staley/Moore wasted an opportunity to use his speed last year. Other teams' secondary have a potential nightmare on their hands if our run game gets going and their CB's and safeties have to play honest.

These aren't platitudes... these are football basics. Back to basics... throw the gimmicky offenses and defenses into the trash bin. Run the damn ball, protect the damn QB. Play aggressive/physical offense and defense... stop playing scared.

And I haven't even touched on Minter's defense, yet. I'm excited about the depth and scheme.
              Protect the QB
              Run the ball
              Play great defense

It has always been (at least) a 2 year rebuild to get to a championship level team . . . . . . . . TT left too much of a mess for it to be anything else. I'm impressed with what H&H have managed to do with the roster they started out with and the resources they had, and we'll be a competitive and hard to play against team this year - I doubt we beat ourselves too much. I'm really looking forward to a change in attitude / culture this year, win or lose.

The difference is simple; with Staley I expected us to find a way to lose, with Harbaugh I expect us to find ways to win . . . . . . . . .

                  1) If the OL gels... the rest will follow. Roman's offenses have finished in the Top-10 running/scoring year after year. I suppose we could wring our hands over this.
                  2) If Minter can get more out of our players than Staley could... we'll be solid. Again, this seems fairly attainable.

Actually, not much question about Bozeman. Seasoned vet starter that played well for Roman in Balt.
The coaches like Pip, you don't. OK. I'm more wait and see. Pip has come a long way since he was drafted and is part of the best OL and has the best coaching staff in his NFL life.

Ladd at pick 2 seems like a good choice after trading Keenan. Younger, quicker and has surprising similarities.

Bozeman should be solid. Not on Corey Linsley's level perhaps but an improvement over Will Clapp.

I'm impressed with the way they've attacked the problems, instead of trying to make splashy moves to cover shit up they made unsplashy moves to fill in the ranks and shore up the issues...I'm very impressed with these guys and in particular I'm impressed with how well they work together and how much Harbaugh trusts Joe...Joe in particular has exceeded my expectations, I already knew to expect a lot from Harbaugh, but Hortiz was a bit of an unknown, in a short 7 months he's already proven himself to be twice the GM that TT ever was...

                          Jim - just remember; we all thought Kellen Moore was going to be the savior (at least for the offense) last year - didn't work out that way. We're going to have some ragged games at the start on offense - there are too many unknowns;

Can the Oline gel and play well?
Can Herbert get on the same page with his receivers after missing so much time in camp?
                          Will Dobbins stay healthy?
Can we overcome the lack of play makers at TE?
Will Minter play zone against Travis Kelce?? (just kidding - he's too smart for that)

And most importantly of all; CAN WE RUN THE FOOTBALL?????

With our WR's essentially learning on the job, if we can't run we're going to be in trouble offensively. We'll be just as one dimensional as last year, but without the veteran receivers to make the passing game work anyway . . . . . . . .
