If he wasn't working hard last fall and this offseason, he'd be gone already, right? No way would Hortiz keep Rice around if he were half-assing it.

He was never on the PS and that was on purpose. He was on the roster til mid season or so,....I don't recall which week It was,...... then they put him on IR.

MW is about as much a WR1 as Simi Fehoko was, and.... that's who he's replacing on the depth chart, and....

the Keenan resistance is mistaken referring to him as a backup.... he's a starter and WR2, 'specially w/this bunch.

said it before, and will add again.... MW is not gonna outproduce QJ, and....

wouldn't put it past Joe to not pull a gem outta day three that ends being our WR3, ahead of MW/QJ.... ??

Apologies - I thought he was buried on the PS . . . . . . . . . . If they thought enough of him to protect him then maybe there's more to what he can bring than I thought . . . . . . . . . . Sure would be nice to get some production out of him this year - it would be a huge bonus.

Side note; does the team have to substantiate an injury to get a guy place on IR? Or can they sort of 'make up' a long term ankle sprain, strained hamstring or whatever to hide (redshirt) guys?

Thats a good question - my feeling is that they can kind of wink wink it - but who knows

My goal for Rice is be a special teams whiz. Maybe thats a low bar but Fehoko played ST.

Day 3 pick 125 and beyond? Some of the better WR's on the board day 3 are probably the likes of Tai Felton, Pat Bryant, Issac TeSlaa, Jaylin Lane, Nick Nash, Ricky White, Kaden Prather, Roc Taylor.

Of these to me the two potential gems are Kaden Prather and Roc Taylor.

This is my sense as well . . . . . . . . it's probably pretty easy to justify a continuing hamstring issue; 'sorry guys - we thought it was ready to go but he re-injured it in practice' kind of thing.

I would hope that Rice could bring more than just ST performance in 2025. Preseason will be interesting . . . . . . .

especially for like 6th, 7th or UDFAs

if those players go to the IR -- the salaries get cut down to like 60% I think -- it kind of sucks but thats the NFLPA CBA allows teams to do that

Minimum salary is what - 600k? 60% of that is still far beyond what most regular folks make. If you can't live on $360k / year then your hooker budget needs to drop a bit . . . . . . . . . .

Rice or Reagor is replacing Fehoko , not MW. You don't believe that....I hope lol. MW is gonna play, how much idk. But he isn't some scrub we throwing out there.

Got to say, QJ has improved but unless MW has fallen off a cliff, which didn't appear he has, he is a better player than QJ. Will be interesting battles in camp after we add another WR or two.

I don't recall what they put him in IR for but they can go on for 8 weeks and return. But I'd be guessing how it went down from there. I really don't know.

My guess is that MW will be X and QJ will be Z. Ladd will line up mostly in the slot. Having MW will allow QJ to play to his strength. I don't think QJ will be competing with MW for the X. I'm also guessing that Rice will be competing with MW and likely a draft pick for the X. I don't think Rice will beat out MW by any means but if he plays better, he might rotate with MW with MW getting the bulk of the snaps. I could be wrong though.
