So Popper Arjun and I were on the same page a year ago... good to know..

(And my guess, if Mike Williams had Keenans contract and Keenan had MW a year ago - all three of us would have advocated trading MW over Allen - it was the structure of the contract - not the player)

As for the rest of the offseason -- probably a lot of Ravens like moves
Maybe nobody that will take a comp pick away
    fill in around the edges
    and hit the draft hard

Jefferson has a 18 mil cap hit and turned down 30 plus from the Vikes already.

The Ravens have never had star recievers....they have had at least one good one and those good ones have been Brown who was OK and small, and now they have Flowers. They have drafted 4 first round recievers since 2006 and they have been Brashard Periman who was a bust, and Brown...who wanted,... out, Bateman and now Flowers. Torrey Smith was a second rounder who was a bust and Boykin a 3rd....and a bust. They actually dont have a good track record with WRs. They did sign Beckham to a 1 year deal,,,,and he didnt really do much there.

And i didnt say we wouldnt sign Edwards.....i said i didnt prefer him, and i dont. He is an ok RB for us but we will get more and have a committie. I prefered to get two RBs in the draft or sign another RB and be younger at the possotion.
You said we were not going to sign Edwards! I'm sorry to differ with you, sir, but you are the caretaker. You've always been the caretaker. I should know, sir. I've always been here.

This is not good...we could draft three receivers in the first three rounds this year and I guarantee at least two will be good.

Jefferson needs to put the crack pipe down...

I didnt, but feel free to look for it. I said i didnt prefer him....and im not shying from that. I prefered someone like Gibson if we signed a RB.
I wont say we wont sign any guys Hortiz is familiar with. I dont prefer Bozeman either because he is a awful pass protector but he has ties to Hortiz and we need a OC. He is ok as a run blocker though....but gave up 8 sacks...one more than Pipkins.

Its OK to differ, we all do in some way but geez, you have to understand our cap situtation and i think you know its not great and to suggest we trade a pick...that we need MORE of for a WR that costs nearly as much as Keenan and who turned down 30 plus mil....is reckless thinking and doesnt help our situation.

It would cost more than the 5th pick -add another future first rounder or a second this year

Plus if Odunze or Nabers are that good -take them at 5 and save about $150m of cap space for the next four years. Harbaugh and Hortiz are in this for the long haul/.. This roster needs a helluva lot more than Justin Jefferson.
^ This...it would mean taking on a new bloated monster deal for JJ, right when Trader Joe has masterfully engineered us out of cap hell...doesn't make sense...besides, Trader Joe's style from the Ravens is team-friendly FA deals, a lot of 1-year FA deals, and stockpiling draft picks...Now, look at what Hortiz and DeCosta did last year with Baltimore--the Ravens free agents who were re-signed were mostly for one and two year deals, at team-friendly prices. The one blockbuster contract was that 5-year, $260 mil deal to re-sign Lamar Jackson...but that HAD to be done, because he is the franchise, and had just led them to the championship game the previous season. But the Ravens do let a lot of UFA's go, and many of them turn into comp picks. They let Ben Powers go to the Chefs, and Baltimore has been given a 4th round comp pick.

Now, as for new FA signings, Trader Joe has a history of a LOT of one-year deals, again mostly at team friendly prices. (see below) The biggest deal he made last year was OBJ for one year at $15 mil. There was Rock Ya-Sin at $4 mil, Agholor at $3 mil, and Clowney at $2.5 mil, but all the rest were for about a mil and change. Expect to see a LOT more of these types of signings. What this means is Trader Joe builds a lot of depth through FA, and some of these end up as starters. And THAT'S what we especially need, is depth. So if someone (like Lindsley) gets injured, we have at least a decent backup to step in, instead of a scrub like Clapp or Jaimes. I like Trader Joe's style. I know it hurts to see someone like Slayer go, but in the long run, I think you're going to see a better overall, and deeper team.

Walsh said years ago: "WR's are a dime a dozen" .... the system and QB make the receivers.....

Reid and BB have figured out that its that great WR's are too expensive to keep, when good ones are getting easier and easier to find......

No one can afford WR's after rookie contract anymore, if you have a top expensive QB...... and whatever extra money you have needs to be spent on OL, CB, DL.....

Not saying we trade the pick but you have to look at all possibilities. It's all relative. The Rams and 49ers surely look at all possibilities to pretty good results. You can't say there's zero chance we trade for him when we just don't know! I'll agree with you that the odds are they won't however If the Vikings offered JJ and their first round pick for our 5 you would have to regard it, not saying you have to pull the trigger, but you have to be very open minded and carefully think it through. Ultimately I'll trust what actually happens and what our HC and GM want to do. People on here get their panties in a bunch just discussing ideas when it doesn't go along with what they want to happen or the way they see it!
