Chiefs swapped their 2017 #21 1 for Bills #10 1 to move up - the 2017 Rd3 and 2018 Rd1 was the cost to get that swap. guess it all depends on what the point of the calculation is - is it the total investment or "extra" cost. both are right depending on perspective.Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

There will be a lot of angry posters when the Chargers draft Bowers at 5. They will be screaming we could have had 3 average Joe's for that one all pro!Originally posted by northerner View Postcan't we all get along?? i knew this #5 pick was going to cause 3 months of chaos here.

All is good - everybody has the same goal - just may have different ways of getting there - the goal is the same : run off a string of AFCWest titles like the Chiefs and get a trophy or twoOriginally posted by northerner View Postcan't we all get along?? i knew this #5 pick was going to cause 3 months of chaos here.

I was able to complete this mock without watching any tape at all ...Originally posted by wu-dai clan View Post
On a board teeming with whismsical machine mocks,
I proposed a hypothetical mock draft designed to facilitate discusion of prospects.
Hopefully many of you will begin to look at more and more videos of these prospects playing football.
The value to this board would come from having more and more eyes on prospects, and posting detailed takes.
There is nothing stopping posters from "doing better."
Pundits, let alone posters, do not know what is going to happen.

Some talk "points" as in precision draft chart trade value.Originally posted by Lone Bolt View Post
What I been sayin'...when its for a QB early in round 1, throw the chart out the window...hope it works out that way...we could really feast come draft day...
Some make "points" as in Trey Lance vs Patrick Mahomes.
So who is gonna take the riser JJ McCarthy @ #5 ?
The draft is to build a roster, moreso than achieve absolute trade value, and manuevers involve ludgement calls in building an overall roster.
We do actually have experts in the Charger draft room, namely Chad Alexander and Corey Krawiec , to keep Hortiz well informed, in all aspects, on the fly.
But generally speaking, Joe Hortiz and I are going to gitter done.

I agree with Wu. The draft chart is a guide and teams dont follow that to a T. If they really want something, they will offer more and some teams have their own draft value that some guys in the know have said in the past.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
Prove it. Since the Jimmy Johnson trade chart came into being - find a team that traded the 5th pick in the draft for 82% of value
If one values Mack as a late 4th rounder - the Chargers are sending out 1740 of value based on the model
The Chargers would be receiving 1440 of value - per the model
This is not trading a 3rd rounder for an extra 5th and getting 95% of value. You want to trade a top 5 pick -- and the gap between 5 and 19 is probably greater than 19 and 34 (if not 19 to 50) -for 82% of perceived value.
There is more than one draft chart out there. You can google it and you will see another type or two.
Value is in the eyes of individuals. You think giving Mack away for a 2025 5th is cool. Some other GM might think he is worth more and hand us a 2024 4th, maybe a 3rdor a 2025 3rd plus a 2024 5th ...whatever it is. Im just spitballing here.
I didnt think Charlie Whitehurst was worth a shit, but Seattle gave us a 3rd...or traded us spots in round 2 or both...i dont recall. I was stunned. whichever it was, to me he wasnt worth it but ill take it. I doubt any other team would have done that for him.
We shall see. Things will happen, we just dont know what yet.
