i heard an interview of him where he thought McCarthy should be the first QB selected in the 2024 draft. he is going hog wild promoting McCarthy. maybe he is trying to pimp that #5 pick.

I was very specific in the chart I used to value Wu's trade - that was the point of the disagreement. Per the chart - the trade was undervaluedOriginally posted by Boltjolt View Post
I agree with Wu. The draft chart is a guide and teams dont follow that to a T. If they really want something, they will offer more and some teams have their own draft value that some guys in the know have said in the past.
There is more than one draft chart out there. You can google it and you will see another type or two.
Value is in the eyes of individuals. You think giving Mack away for a 2025 5th is cool. Some other GM might think he is worth more and hand us a 2024 4th, maybe a 3rdor a 2025 3rd plus a 2024 5th ...whatever it is. Im just spitballing here.
I didnt think Charlie Whitehurst was worth a shit, but Seattle gave us a 3rd...or traded us spots in round 2 or both...i dont recall. I was stunned. whichever it was, to me he wasnt worth it but ill take it. I doubt any other team would have done that for him.
We shall see. Things will happen, we just dont know what yet.
Granted, I made a proposal with the Falcons that got above value using the same chart and you said it wasn't enough. And it was a shit load more in perceived value than Wu's trade.
As for valuation of a player like Mack --you cannot compare. One player, the draft pick, has a valuation chart. The other player, a veteran, doesn't. Plus, there are other factors for the Chargers with trading Mack, Bosa, Williams &/or Allen than getting what you think his true trade value is.

I stay out of the mock thread pretty much, too many question marks yet. Ditto trying to guess the final roster. But, I do like guessing who we keep/draft, and reading the opinions of others. What I think a forum is for and I don’t really care how “smart” someone’s take is, I know mine are far from perfect. Is what it is and now I’m gonna eat some peanut butter crackers.

He did say that as well but when he said he was the best prior to that he said he was the best QB at Michigan in history.Originally posted by northerner View Post

In no way do i think he is saying that for us but for teams to think he is good enough for #5 for a trade down. And it is realistic. Who would be next? 25 year old Bo Nix? If a team dont trade up for him, he could slide to Denver and perhaps Harbaugh is trying to prevent that.
Penix might go 2nd round.

Here are last years draft trades. See how they match up. I havent studied it at all but thought you might be interested. I know there were some drafts that a trade was made and we were like, wow, thats a lot to give up.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

if N'awlins trades up w/us Wu can get his JPJ @14, and....
how is it that peoples keep referring to Brock as an All Pro, like it's a thing ??
reminder & for what it's worth.... Zierlein has him as first year starter.... not All Pro.... not even Pro Bowl, and....
dude is pretty much even odds to be a mid first rounder, rather than off the board @5 ??LB CJ Allen, LT Caleb Lomu, OC Parker Brailsford, RB Demond Claiborne, TE Justin Joly, NT Dontay Corleone, OC Bryce Foster, CB Josh Moten, LB Eric Gentry

JPJ is way too hot right now. He’s the most overvalued guy in the draft based on a few reps in the Senior Bowl practices. 16 is just ridiculous.Originally posted by wu-dai clan View PostNFLDraftScout has recently moved JCP all the way up to #16 prospect. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

and 2022 draft trades
https://www.nfl.com/news/2022-nfl-dr...ove-since-star
The Panthers gave up a lot for Bryce Young
The Cardinals traded a couple times last year
Even reviewed the Julio Jones and Mahomes trades from past years
All of them were at or above the Johnson points chart.
As I have said, in the 2nd round or later -- I think the points chart is a guide. Like dropping down 7 spots in Round 2 for an extra 4th and the chart says the valuation is 100 and the Chargers get 96 - thats fine
Specifically for the 5th EFFING Pick in the draft - better be blown away.

Is Ben Herbert the new strength and conditioning coach or not? The Chargers have Jonathan Brooks listed as the head strength coach and I thought it was reported Ben Herbert was following Harbaugh here???

He also had Kittle as a 5.90 which is average backup or ST'er. Nacua a 5.80. LaPorta a 6.18 which is backup with potentual to start.Originally posted by beachcomber View Postif N'awlins trades up w/us Wu can get his JPJ @14, and....

I dont know who is refering Bowers a ALL Pro already but he is the best TE in this draft and would of been last year as well imo with Kincaid 2nd.
