Cap and injuries are a problem.
Whatever Hortiz, Harbaugh decide, I'm OK.

TT's calling card was top heavy teams with little (quality) depth. I'm sure Hortiz can do better, but the entire concept is a huge risk . . . . . . . . . . IMO. I'd prefer that we let JH have a shot at developing our draft picks first, before we start dropping boatloads of money (again) on FA's . . . . . .
I agree with this. I think JH2 need to see what they have in the young players left from Telesco; the new players they draft and figure out next spring where to spend money

I like the idea of a bunch of lower cost, one year prove it deals

It is easy to picture Hortiz holding off on pricey free agents.
There will be bargains at the right time.

Mack had 17 sacks.....that dont come cheap in free agency.
Josh Allen (17.5 sacks) 27 yo
          Brian Burns 26 yo
Danielle Hunter (16.5 sacks) 26 yo
          Zadarius Smith 31 yo

All of them are younger than Mack or more durable than Bosa.

I just do not get it why anyone would trade for Mack or Bosa and include draft picks to get them.

P.s. I am not saying that Mack was not good for us last year but he had that one game vs LV with 6 sacks.

According to some here that kind of edge production can be found anywhere and it is not a premium position, much like RB's. Guys just want to dump talent no questions asked, no work arounds, no attempt to hold on or restructure. Just drop them for a 7th three years from now and we are all good, forget next year but we will win the salary cap SB (that is what matters most apparently).

The Ravens were never shy about spending on guys that they wanted to build around...yeah, they let people walk all the time but then go against trend to not pay linebackers and both traded for then spend a lot of money on smith last year and we all saw how it helped their defense...Hortiz comes from that system and for all I know he might not even like Madabuike, who knows...

Also, if you look at the history of Mack - his second year he had 15 sacks

most years in the 8-12 range
its why I am leery of giving him a long term deal
but to fit him under the cap - have to probably give him a long term deal
                in summary: trade him now

I'm in the keep Mack camp but if the Chargers are going to trade him, Green Bay would make a lot of sense. They have a good defense and Mack's talents would definitely help them take the next step. Plus, GB has 2 2nd round picks so they could entice the Chargers with one of their 2nd rnd picks.
                  1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
                  2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
                  3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
                  4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

I still think its Detroit - but we shall see if extended or traded or even released.

There are a couple of other teams that could trade for him. Steelers and Rams could make a trade as well. Mack playing opposite TJ Watt would be insane. The reason I said GB is because they have 2 2nd rnd pics. Not sure if the others would be willing to give up a 2nd for him.

Detroit has their second and two thirds. One of the thirds is from MN and its in the 70's; the other is end of the 3rd round, 92 I think

Not sure the Steelers are an option -- defense is not their problem. Where with the Lions - they need defense, especially DLine and are primed to win now.

I personally do not think the Chargers will get what they gave up for Mack.

Lions make sense and no argument from me just throwing other teams that may make sense. I also agree the Chargers wont get what they gave up but still think they could get a 2nd rnd pick for him. Doubt they will get a 2nd and 2025 draft pick.
