They've drafted VERY well . . . . . . . . . and developed their draftees too. They've also been smart on select FA's. All in all their management has been excellent . . . . . . . . . hopefully we can get there too. It's depressing to compare where they are and where we are. Just goes to show how critical management (and coaching) is in the NFL . . . . . . . . I think Dean finally gets it . . . . .

This cap space panic is nonsense

Currently, Chargers have 22 players under contract for 2025. With 112mil in cap space for 2025.

And have only 8 players under contract for 2026.
            200mil in cap space.

And that before the cap increases

Extension for Mack and Allen don't kill roster construction at all. It does help 2024 cap space where current is over 25mil last checked.

Bosa and Williams should be cut or traded, but I posted that last year right after the Jax loss. They were brought back at top dollar by Telesco and went to IR which was the main reason I didn't want them which was availability issue for that price.

Joe Hortiz draft will be a master class on roster construction vs Tommy RaiTurd Telescan't draft. I bet anyone the Turds trade up this draft.
Who has it better than us?

Don't see why people are so hard up on trading Bosa and Mack. If they can restructure and get under the cap then why not? You can still draft a DE which is probably the way to go even if you keep both.
              1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
              2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
              3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
              4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

The FA moves in 2022 were done because of Staley. Mack came because of the connection to Staley. Many of the other guys were also his idea. The time when TT made moves in the off-season, that were his own idea, was in 2020 when he got guys like Linval Jospeh, Chris Harris Jr, Bryan Bulaga, and Trai Turner. And that was because he forced to step up. Telesco was known for not making FA signings prior to that point.

In hindsight it looks like those weren't the right moves. But at the time people thought the roster in 2022 could be as good as the 2006 team or even the 2009 team. Fans overrating the roster is why Telesco has stayed GM for so long. Again I say that the way Telesco operates is why the club never won an AFC West title.

                  In a big way.

BTW Andy Reid and Brett Veach are sweating bullets over Chris Jones, L'Jarius Sneed, and which one they can retain.

Welcome to the cycles of football
                  in the salary cap era.

Maybe we should wait and see what happens in the next two and a half weeks.

TE Everett, Parham, Nick Vannett, Harrison Bryant * if we can nab an extra day two pick here, would love to add Ben Sinnott

OG Zion, McFadden * if we can add a third round pick, would love to add Zak Zinter here
OC Connor Williams * if we get a pick for Bosa, perhaps we can add Sedrick Van Pran here

DT A'Shawn Robinson, Matlock * got no problem going Byron Murphy or Jer'Zhan here
DE Tuli, Morgan Fox * Bralen Trice would be a hellah add here as well
ED Khalil, Dorance Armstrong * Latu or Verse would be good adds here if the case

CB Asante, Deane Leonard, Ja'Sir, Essang Bassey, Mike D. * we need to add a vet nickel and/or cover corner as well
S Derwin, Alohi, JT Woods * if Joe can dig up some extra draft capital would be spending here on Cole Bishop

I think a lot of guys here are way out over their skis with the certainty they must or will cut / trade both of their two starting edge rushers. Odds are greater they are both here in 2024 then they are both gone jmo. the cap increase just increased those odds. Talented edge rushers don’t fall out of trees and are not found behind rental car counters next to aspiring RBs. Harbaugh wants to win year 1 and he may not think he can do that by getting rid of both of his veteran elite edge rushers. I’ve been dropping hints on this possibility here for awhile.

Some here are be traumatized and became angry about his 2023 injuries/games missed, but Harbaugh may not be. He’s a cool assassin - emotion does not make Harbaugh decisions. He’ll talk to med staff and coaches and get informed expert perspectives on projections for 2024.

Selective review of disappointing years may not align with their analysis method. Joey also had good years too and they may not think his career is over. Nor may they be as worried about his “attitude perception” that dominates TPB. I’ve sure never heard criticism of his attitude from any Charger player or coach, only here.

We shall see - trust in JH2.
