Just release Bosa and MW - life will go on. The Chargers will survive without Joey Bosa and MW. As for Minters comments, he was just speaking coach speak - he is not going to say "yes, we are cutting Bosa and trading Mack"
Lastly, with respect to the KA and Mack, the best I have for both is give them their 23m with two void years. Chargers would get about $25m of cap space between them - if they blow it out of the water in 2024 - they get paid, if they don't- they are free agents or a take a salary based on their 2024 performance. I don't think the chargers should be paying Mack or Allen in 2025, at their age, based on 2023.
My offseason plan just for you since you have given me yours
. First, the chargers are now $25.6m over the cap as both Palmer and Samuel got pay increases based on 4th year status - no surprise1) release MW and Kendricks - up to $892k so cap compliant
2) Bosa: trade or release with a June 1 designation - up to $22.8 under the cap
3) Allen and Mack - pay them their $23m -- give two void years. rolling 30m of dead cap with these moves If they ball out in 2024 - there 2025 salary will be based on that. The Chargers are giving them the money they have earned but are not paying them for 2025 until they perform in 2024. If they are not amenable - moving on.
Team has $52m of cap space
After signing the rookies, having a 53 man roster, practice squad and in season fund - team will have about $30m in free agency to spend on upgrading the roster
