My Kendricks guess: they didn't offer him a pay cut option.Originally posted by Heatmiser View PostHortiz said a good GM moves slowly and thoughtfully. He does not have to anything until March 13. I am sure he is working hard, seeing who is willing to restructure or take a paycut or who he can trade. I would rather he do this right than do it fast. We will know soon enough.
I think the release of Kendricks tells us he would not take a paycut, no one was going to trade for him, and he was not worth extending to get instant cap relief. So that one was easy. The others taking longer indicates there is potential for something other than an outright cut. And what he has to do with Keenan, Bosa, Williams and Mack may be sequential/mutually dependent. So I expect all of it to happen at once when it does happen.

The others "taking longer" are evidence he does not suffer an obsessive-compulsive need to "see something now". He of course is exploring options with teams and players, running alternative what-if scenarios, and biding his time until an option becomes too attractive to delay or he must make another move. Smart.

It is all about us being diligent in personnel thoughts.
Ari is saying that ORT is not necessarily a position of highest need.
Better play calling (Roman), better training (BHerbert), and better position coaching (Devlin)
can obviously help Pipkins perform better, especially at crucial portions of games. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

I was going to say with one move, the Chargers would be cap compliant but they signed Cameron Dicker to a contract so just releasing Mike Williams will not get them cap compliant. So maybe they release a Parham or Morgan Fox; maybe extend Allen to a similar contract as Mike Evans. But yes, Hortiz is going to be very deliberate and make sure he misses nothingOriginally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

The Bills made those moves yesterday as they needed to get cap compliant just to operate the league year and those players probably didn't have any trade value.

Dicker was signed? Was it the one year RFA deal or did they sign him longer term? He had such a great year 31-33 FG, 7 makes from 50+. He may end up best kicker Chargers ever had even considering Carney and Rolf.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Well OTC lists him signed for $985k - so my guess that is the RFA amount. He was outstanding last year. Maybe OTC is just assuming he will be tendered - which he should be 100% - even if it was like $2m tender - he is worth. One more cheap year for Dicker and next year, he will get a nice raiseOriginally posted by Heatmiser View Post

Dicker's cap hit is 985k - they don't need to do anything dramatic like rush a big dollar KA action in a hurry to account for thatOriginally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

NO, it was more before Dicker, they were just releasing Mike Williams - now they have to do a bit moreOriginally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

KA is a pretty easy extension. Look the Mike Evans deal and mimic. Don't see him getting more than Evans at this point.
